A very easy walk. The first part up to the dam, very pleasant and shady. There's not shade on second part until you arrive, so wear hats in sunny weather.
Numerous birds and in particular grey herons, cormorants, swans etc. are visible near the water and on the banks of the Rhone.

Château Pointu from Villeneuve-lès-Avignon
A short, relatively flat, very accessible walk near Avignon. Expect a few sections over uneven terrain, such as stream beds, narrow (single-track) paths with dense vegetation, cliff-edge paths, and sloping rocky ground which can be slippery when wet. The route remains very accessible, however, with lovely views. Suitable for families with children, provided they are not prone to vertigo, or plan to avoid the two detours along the banks of the Rhône before reaching the castle.

The view of Mont Ventoux will accompany you throughout this hike, which presents no technical difficulty but will still require a pair of trainers and the ability to walk 13 km. Although there are several shaded sections, bring a hat and 1 litre of water per person if the temperature exceeds 25°C.
The route will surprise you with the diversity of its landscapes and vegetation. After a stroll through the heath, the path continues through Lirac, then climbs through the vineyards before descending through a pine forest with sandy ground.
Short walk around the Mourre de la Cabane
This is a short, pleasant and fairly shaded walk. You will, however, need to take a few small paths and descend a few metres via a ‘short climb down’. A view of the Rhône Valley will be visible along the way on clear days.
