Saint-Hilaire-Petitville walks

During this walk, you will discover Carentan, a town with architectural heritage dating from the Middle Ages to the 19th century.

Set off to explore Brévands, a picturesque little village in the Baie des Veys at the heart of the polders, rich in built and natural heritage. Walk along the dirt tracks, follow the Douve river and admire the typical buildings of the area.

This route is an addition to the route entitled: Between Land and Marsh -1-.

Taking the new paths created by the land consolidation in Montmartin-en-Graignes, this route allows you to explore the countryside on the edge of the marshes. It offers some beautiful views.

Climb to the top and travel through the centuries. This former stone quarry, converted into a lake, offers a pleasant stroll through the heart of the bocage. You will pass along the old railway tracks, now greenways. You will also pass along the old path taken by the wagons that brought stones to Lithaire station for transport to Paris and its major construction projects. Around the pond, you will see the old castle, the old church and the remains of a Neolithic alleyway. Don't miss the 180° view of the surrounding area.

A very pleasant walk around Longueville in the Cotentin and Bessin Marshes Regional Nature Park.

An easy hike between land and sea, ending with a visit to the historic site of Pointe du Hoc. Do not follow the beach afterwards (5) as it is difficult to climb back up and is submerged at high tide. See the notices.

A hike along small roads, hedgerow paths and marsh edges.

Starting from the village of Doville, this half-day hike offers exceptional views of the mountains, marshes and Channel Islands, punctuated by passages through wooded paths and a large plateau of bare moorland populated by gorse.

This very accessible hike starting from Trévières immerses you in a marshy landscape lulled by the passage of the Tortonne river.

A lovely walk between the sea and the countryside along paths and small roads. You will discover the ruins of the Saint-Michel de Lestre Chapel overlooking the small Sinope valley. As you walk around the charming little port, you will pass by the floodgates.

Starting from the village mill, set off to explore the sunken lanes of Muneville-le-Bingard. Some of the sunken paths were reopened by volunteers from the Bocage et Patrimoine Munevillais association in 2024. A few paths are maintained by volunteers, depending on their availability, and the grass may be a little high at certain times of the year.

Circular via the coastal path facing Saint-Vast-la-Hougue, then through the countryside overlooking the bay. Alternating between quiet country roads and shaded paths. Two imposing churches, those of Morsalines and Grenneville, take us back to the days when the bay was the scene of naval conflicts.

A short stroll around the charming port of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue. Crossing to Tatihou Island and visit to Vauban's fortifications. Although less popular than the neighbouring departments of Brittany, the English Channel offers equally wonderful landscapes that are less populated but wild and varied. If you are in the area, don't hesitate to discover this region, especially its marshes and the headlands and cliffs of the Cotentin Peninsula.

A beautiful route in the heart of nature, along the Vire river, very quiet and very pleasant.

Coutances, the historic former capital of the Cotentin, offers a contrasting spectacle of countryside almost within the city. This hike takes you through the outskirts of the town, winding its way through the three valleys that surround it, each with its own lazy river. Half on land and half on roads or alleyways, the urban passages allow you to discover a small part of Coutances' heritage, despite the industrial area that spoils the pleasure a little, but you quickly forget about that.

The hike is accessible to a wide range of people as there are no difficult sections.

This route takes you along thePR®26in Gouville-sur-Mer, recommended by the Departmental Hiking Committee. It allows you to walk along the seafront and along beautiful paths through the bocage countryside.

A beautiful walk starting from Mare de l'Essay, through the stone houses of the old village of Agon and along the coastal path offering panoramic views of the Sienne estuary or Regnéville harbour.

After an initial section in the Cotentin countryside, the route continues across grasslands, home to salt marsh sheep, along the River Sienne and its mouth.
