!!! WARNING - WARNING - WARNING !!!
Do not follow the beach to the end of the marked trail! The GPS trail is very precise and clearly indicates that you should follow the beach, not the path just above (the Liberté greenway). Just after the Pont du Hable bridge, the trail indicates that you should follow the beach (pebbles, stones of varying sizes and rocks, but still passable) at the foot of the cliff, which becomes higher and higher as you progress. The cliff has collapsed in several places, making it very difficult, then impossible to pass: we had to turn back. The danger is all the greater because in at least one place, the beach disappears under water when the tide comes in (and it comes in fast!). And there are no signs indicating that access to the beach is prohibited! There are therefore two options: either take the beach to the first path that climbs up the hillside, roughly opposite the path that leads to a 'P' on the map (a short steep climb through brambles and nettles, but passable, we did this, and it joins the top of the cliff), or as soon as you leave Pont du Hable, take the Liberté greenway, which is actually signposted "only use the designated paths" (but to see the signs, you have to be on the path already...), the walk loses some of its charm but is much safer!
Apart from that, the rest of the route is very charming, passing through fields, meadows filled with cows and storks (yes, storks!), and apple trees. The Pointe du Hoc is the highlight of the hike.
