Woodland and the Senelle Valley

Start at Place Colonel Louis Mendez.

(S/E) From the square, head down Route Romaine and cross over the two branches of the La Senelle stream.

(1) Turn left onto Route des Courtelleries and follow it for about 400 m.

(2) After leaving the village of Prétot-Sainte-Suzanne, turn onto the country lane on the right. After 300 m, you’ll reach a four-way junction. Turn left, follow the lane for 1 km and you’ll come out onto a road (D138).

(3) Turn right and follow this county road with care . Ignore the first sunken lane on the right and look out for a second one 450 m further on.

(4) Turn right onto this track, which can be very muddy outside the summer months. After 220 m, the sunken track turns into a country lane leading onto the Route de Fèvrerie (D24).

(5) Cross the road carefully and take the country lane opposite. This can be very muddy in places due to regular tractor traffic.

(6) After 600 m, enter the woodland by taking the path slightly to your left. Follow the forest track and emerge from the woodland after 400 m. You will come out onto a country lane; follow it to the left.

(7) After 170 m, take the forest track on your right; this runs alongside the Senelle at first, then moves away from the stream to climb higher. After 500 m, pass a track on your right. Continue straight on, pass another path on your right 400 m further on and keep going straight on until you reach the D24 at the entrance to the village of Prétot-Sainte-Suzanne.

(1) Turn left and head towards Place Colonel Louis Mendez (S/E).

There are two picnic tables and a drinking fountain at the start of the walk, at Place Colonel Mendez (12 Route Romaine, 50250 Montsenelle). The nearest public toilets are 1 km from the starting point, at the Prétot-Sainte-Suzanne local council offices, next to the church (14 Route du Lavoir, 50250 Montsenelle).
