(S) Leave Rifugio Savoia on the left and follow the tarmac road to the end.
(1) Continue along the track without taking the paths to the right. Pass under the high-voltage power line and continue until you reach the junction with marked trail no. 9.
(2) Take this path to the left, passing under the high-voltage power line again. Follow a beautiful balcony path with views of the meandering Dora del Nivolet river below. Reach Pian Borgnoz.
(3) Follow the sign for “aune” for a short 5-minute detour to a strangely shaped mountain pasture and an idyllic lake, a watering hole for ibex. Then return to the main path. You will soon reach a junction of paths.
(4) Here you have two options:
- turn right to reach the village of Pont and then follow the road to Eaux-Rousses (E),
- take the left-hand path towards Lac Djouan (the route chosen). Continue along an almost flat path to reach a bridge over a stream at the foot of Col Manteau.
(5) Cross the bridge and begin the final, fairly gentle climb facing Gran Paradiso. Reach Col Manteau.
(6) Cross over to the opposite side and, via a short section covered in large boulders that you’ll need to clamber over with some effort, followed by an easier descent, reach Lac Djouan, which you passed on Stage 1.
(7) Turn right and follow the path from Stage 1 downhill to reach Les Eaux-Rousses (E), the end point of this tour.
