Description of the walk

(S) On leaving the Vallanta Refuge, follow the Via Alpina path which descends southwards.

(1) At the junction with the Tour du Mont Viso trail, which descends to the right, continue in the same direction.

(2) At the fork, continue straight on along the Tour du Mont Viso trail.

(3) Pass the Grange Soubeyran on your right and continue to the Grange Del Rio.

(4) Pass Grange Del Rio on the left, then Grange Soulières, and continue down to a track that joins the path. Take the path on the left just past Grange Gheit.

(5) From the barn, take the path that climbs gently eastwards to the junction with a path coming from the south.

(6) At Pian Meyer, head up to the left towards the north-east until you reach a fork.

(7) Take the left-hand fork until you reach another junction with a path coming from the south.

(8) Continue along the path northwards to Lake Mont Viso, which you should follow. Continue along the path until you reach the Sella Quintino Refuge (E).
