Réallon walks
Lake Laus
Many walks are signposted from Les Gourniers. But not the one to Lac de Laus. You will therefore encounter very few other walkers. A walk that begins through mountain pastures, in the shade in the morning, before turning onto a fairly wild mountain-side path. The slopes are steep and offer impressive views, without being vertiginous.
The “Peuple des Oiseaux” panoramic trail in Réallon
A family-friendly discovery trail focusing on mountain birds. From the resort to the hamlet of Vaucluse, this scenic route overlooking the Réallon valley features several play structures made from local larch wood.
Serre du Mouton and Lac Saint-Apollinaire
This walk, which begins in the larch woodland at the foot of the Aiguilles de Chabrières, offers superb views of Lac de Serre-Ponçon, the Réallon valley and Lac Saint-Apollinaire.
The Saint-Apollinaire Lake circuit
This circuit, created as part of the Fête de la Randonnée organised by the Hautes-Alpes Departmental Committee, is a pleasant route suitable for all ages. It offers breathtaking views of its large neighbour, the Serre-Ponçon Lake.
Aiguilles de Chabrières and Vaucluse
A walk through forests and rocks with fabulous views of Lake Serre-Ponçon at the gateway to the Parc des Écrins.
Réallon - Font Renarde loop
This is a pleasant walk with beautiful scenery along most of the route. The Font Renarde hut, below the Aiguilles de Chabrières, is in a truly superb spot.
Aiguilles de Chabrières from the Réallon resort
This is a beautiful walk with the aim of reaching the limestone massif of the Aiguilles de Chabrières, which offers a magnificent 360° panorama of the Embrunais, the Écrins massif and the Serre-Ponçon lake.
The Beaume Valley from Les Méans
An easy round-trip hike that takes you along the Torrent de Reyssas, where you can dip your feet just before the pretty Vallon de la Beaume. At the end of the route, you can continue on to the Col de Reyssas or Lac Brun (about 1 hour each), or even towards the Col de Trempa-Latz.Please note: mountain pastures. Dogs, even on a lead, are prohibited by local by-law, generally from 1 June onwards. You may encounter local sheepdogs: please remain cautious and respectful of grazing areas.
Saint-Marcellin Chapel at the start of the Gourniers route via the discovery trail
A short, easy walk starting from Les Gourniers (in the commune of Réallon) to reach the Saint-Marcellin Chapel via the discovery trail.
Vallon de Chargès
A beautiful, wild valley to explore on a round trip. It's a fairly easy walk to the Cabane du Pré d'Antoni, after which it gets a little steeper. The scenery is superb from start to finish. It's also a well-known spot for spotting chamois.
Col du Barle from Les Gourniers
This round-trip route is one of many hiking options available from the hamlet of Les Gourniers, offering views of, amongst other things, the highest peak in the Embrunais region, the Mourre Froid at an altitude of 2,993 metres.
Col de la Gardette (Hautes-Alpes)
This round trip, which is more of a stroll than a hike, even if there is a little elevation gain and distance, allows you to gain a little height for a view of the beautiful landscapes at the southern end of the Écrins massif (Le Mourre Froid and other peaks), not to mention the beautifully carved Aiguilles de Chabrières mountains on the south-eastern side.
On the edge of the Écrins National Park, from the small hamlet of Les Gourmiers, a beautiful path leads us to the Col de la Coupa; the cliffs serve as a perch for vultures, which can be admired gliding over the magnificent Réallon valley.
Aiguilles de Chabrières and Réallon Station from Saint Apollinaire
This route to the Aiguilles de Saint-Apollinaire allows you to discover the small lake of Saint Apollinaire before enjoying an exceptional view of the Serre-Ponçon lake and the mountains that surround it. On the way back, you can appreciate the charm of the small resort of Réallon.
A passage through a very steep rocky area may be difficult for those who are sensitive to vertigo.
Aiguilles de Chabrières from Saint-Apollinaire
From the pretty little lake of Saint-Apollinaire, towards the Aiguilles de Chabrières. The route offers magnificent 360° views of Lake Serre-Ponçon, the Embrunais and the Ecrins.
This hike is one of the routes leading to the Aiguilles de Chabrières (I’ve described another one starting from the Réallon resort). For me, this is the most difficult one because the climb is steep right from the start and doesn’t let up until the Pic de Chabrières.
Two small abandoned hamlets above Puy-Saint-Eusèbe
A very varied family walk with beautiful views of Lake Serre-Ponçon. Waterfalls, pretty forest with beautiful clearings, canal along which you walk and two small abandoned hamlets.
Reyssas Canal and abandoned farms
Hike along the Reyssas irrigation canal. To maintain a steady gradient, the canal passes through some unlikely and beautiful places. Admire the work of our ancestors. Discover abandoned farms. Hike through the forest, including a majestic larch grove. Beautiful views of Lake Serre-Ponçon.
This hike requires a bit of agility (crossing the Coulet torrent) and balance (walking on a narrow path along the canal). From 12 years old.
La Peyre de l’Aigle
A very pleasant walk with magnificent views over Lake Serre Ponçon and the Aiguilles de Chabrières. Accessible, with part of the route on a forest track but some sections of path that climb quite steeply.
South-facing with little shade; best avoided in hot weather. This walk follows marked routes listed on the Serre Ponçon website. In summer, you may come across flocks of sheep, but you won’t need to cross any fenced-in pastures.
