To get to the starting point: go to Puy-Saint-Eusèbe. Leave the D9 for theD109A and head for the hamlet of L'Église. As you climb, before reaching the hamlet, take the first forest road on your right, G17, signposted Embrun via the Para viewpoint. Follow this road, which is flat at first but then climbs for 3.2 km until you reach the Chemin de la Beaume sign. The road is passable by car but avoid cars with low clearance.
(S/E) Start at the sign for Chemin de la Beaume. Take a path that climbs gently towards the north-east (GR®®50) and pass by two waterfalls that meet just below the road (Cascade du Ravin de la Pisse and Cascade du Ravin de Charance). Then enter the forest via a cattle grid (to prevent livestock from passing).
(1) At the first forest road junction in the forest, turn left towards the west (track marked G18). Follow the track downhill for 1.4 km (from an altitude of 1,640 m to 1,470 m). Stay on the main track, which winds its way through beautiful clearings.
(2) This forest track at the bottom turns naturally to the right (north-east) to follow the canal. Ignore an abandoned track on the left, blocked by a water hole. Pass by a new waterfall (Combe de l'Aubrié) while following a canal, either in the form of a pipe or in the open air.
(3) This path leads to the first ruins, Les Briands. Continue and you will see one or two restored houses above the path: Les Touisses.
(4) Take theGR®® path on the right (south-east) signposted Clot Bouffier and climb this small mule track to the second small abandoned hamlet. In the distance, you will see rocks that have recently rolled down from the cliff and majestic cherry trees in front.
(5) Turn right (south) onto the path towards the sign for Les Touisses, Les Méans. Follow this path, which offers new landscapes, waterfalls and drinking troughs.
(1) Take the same route back to your starting point (S/E).
