In the hamlet of L'Église, park just before the church in the car park on the left.
(S/E) Take the path that climbs in front of the church, go past the house with a fountain next to it (and a prayer wheel) and climb the path. At the pumping station (1965 on the green door), turn right towards the gate of the church's water catchment area. There is water along the path, either free-flowing or channelled.
Join a forest loop that makes a hairpin bend.
Take the right-hand branch. Shortly afterwards, you will come to a crossroads of forest paths (there is a picnic table on the left). This is where the loop begins.
(1) Turn left and then immediately after, keep to the right. Join the cement pipes, then the open canal. Continue to the Coulet stream.
(2) Cross the stream. As the footbridge has collapsed, take a small detour. This passage requires a little agility. The canal is attached to the walls in metal pipes. A few dozen metres to the left, before the few trees, carefully take the small, very steep path. Go slightly up the stream and tackle the scree for a few metres, using your hands to help you. Rejoin the canal where it enters the pipes.
Follow the canal. A more or less narrow path used by those who maintain the canal.
After 1 km, go around the water hole to reach a forest road.
(3) Continue straight ahead (do not go up to the right).
Pass through another waterfall (Combe de l'Aubrié). Follow a canal that is either:
- either covered by a pipe,
- or open to the air.
This path leads to the first ruins of Les Briand.
(4) Continue and you will see one or two restored houses above the path: Les Touisses.
(5) Then take theGR® path on the right (south-east) signposted Clot Bouffier and climb this small mule track to the second small abandoned hamlet. In the distance, you may see rocks that have recently rolled down from the cliff. In front of the ruins are majestic cherry trees.
(6) Turn right (south) onto the path towards the sign for Les Touisses, Les Méans. Follow this path, which offers new landscapes. The forest road crosses two streams: the Combe de l'Aubrier (metal drinking troughs) and the Ravin de la Pisse. Continue until you reach the forest road coming from the left and making a hairpin bend.
(7) Platform with an underground fire hydrant. 20 metres after a sign on the right indicating Chemin de la Beaume in the opposite direction, take the small path on the right that descends. This path is barely visible at first. It is actually at the level of the hairpin bend. It is marked with green dots. Descend the path until you reach the start of a small valley.
(8) A small path climbs straight ahead while the main path turns left. Turn left and descend along this valley. Walk alongside forests of majestic larch trees. Reach the ruins of Clot Regnaud, which are home to raspberry bushes.
(9) Continue straight ahead and descend steeply. Join a grassy track that descends. Reach the forest road at the crossroads of the loop.
(1) Turn left and follow the same route back to the car park (S/E).
- the only difficulty being finding your way when crossing the canal.
