Walk from Grange Vieille to Tanneron

Lake Saint-Cassien is held back by a dam on the Biançon river, designed to provide electricity. Take advantage of this hike to admire the magnificent views of the lake and the dam. The lake covers an area of 420 hectares. It is also fed by a diversion from the Siagne river. A fishing spot that attracts many enthusiasts of all nationalities, it is home to particularly large carp and catfish. It also serves as a training ground for rowing clubs and a water collection site for Canadair aircraft during forest fires. Lake Saint-Cassien is located in the municipalities of Montauroux, Tanneron, Callian and Les Adrets de l'Estérel. Description of the walk

Starting point: car park at cistern no. RN07 on the D94 towards the "Belluny" district. GPS coordinates of the starting point: 43.608913, 6.82778.

(S/E) From the car park, at the lake information board, cross the road and take the H14 track opposite, towards the Grange Vieille, which runs alongside the lake and leads to some ruins further on.

(1) At the ruins, take the path on the left which crosses other ruins until you reach a three-way junction. Ignore the path that goes uphill to the left and continue straight ahead.

(2) At the next three-way junction, take the small path that descends to the right into the undergrowth. At the right-hand bend, take the small path that branches off to the left and leads to the lake shore, opposite the dam.

(3) After enjoying the location, return to the car park via the same route (S/E).

Notes

Please note: the point facing the dam is a sensitive area! Swimming and fishing are prohibited and dangerous. The site is home to bird nesting areas, so please respect the area!
