Pont des Tuves and Pont des Gabres from Les Veyans

A circular route, best done in spring, leading to a spot known to all: the Pont des Tuves.
A magnificent panorama which, once summer arrives, becomes a motorway, making one forget the tranquillity of the surroundings.
This hike alternates between steep ascents and descents, making it quite tiring for some.
This route differs slightly from the one starting from the village of Saint-Cezaire.

Description of the walk

Please note, parking can be tricky in the Veyans area, which is a small hamlet.

(S/E) Continue along the tarmac road, heading north-north-west. Reach marker 16 and find theGR®510here, marked in white and red. Continue along the road and reach the junction at marker 4.

(1) Keep left on the road and then, at the end, take the track. Head towards the Tuves wash house, go round the back of it, and continue along the path leading to the chapel. Reach the crossroads below the chapel at marker no. 5.

(2) Take a short detour of a few dozen metres to visit the Saint-Saturnin Chapel. Return to theGR® on the left and, via a gentle climb, reach the Canal de la Siagne.

(3) Cross it via the footbridge. Continue on to reach a crossroads at the end of this climb.

(4) Head down to the left, then, at marker no. 9, leave theGR® and turn left. Cross the canal again to reach, at the bottom of the descent, the Siagne and the Pont des Thuves.

(5) You can continue along the left bank of the river to reach a pleasant beach.

(6) Retrace your steps to rejoin theGR® and the crossroads you passed on the way out.

(4) Turn left and continue uphill to reach a road at marker no. 7.

(7) Take this road straight ahead and, shortly after marker no. 3, turn right and begin a steep descent to reach a path junction at the houses in Bergeris.

(8) Take the path straight ahead and finish the descent at the road junction, at marker no. 1 which you passed on the way out.

(1) Follow the route you took on the way there in the opposite direction to return to the Veyrans car park (S/E).

A lovely find at the end of the walk. The Pont des Tuves is well worth a visit – a refreshing and welcome dip for the feet – but it’s best to go in spring and avoid weekends, as this route is unfortunately far too busy. The elevation gain is still quite significant, at around 550 metres. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes as the paths are very stony. There’s a beautiful chapel along the way.

A lovely walk – a bit of a workout in hot weather, but well worth the effort.
We set off early, which meant we had the stunning views of the bridge and the beach all to ourselves.
Thank you for sharing this route.
