Montalet-le-Bois walks

This walk retraces the Battle of Vexin at the end of August 1944 thanks to the numerous explanatory panels placed along the route.

A loop starting from the National Scout Centre in Jambville. The very hilly route is marked in yellow.

Starting from the charming village of Brueil en Vexin, you will pass La Cave aux Fées, a Neolithic burial site dating from around 2000 BCE. Then, through a varied, hilly landscape, you will discover a few hamlets and a village with its wash house and old bridge.

A short hike in the rolling landscape of the French Vexin, among woods, fields and meadows that are home to many horses.

At the southern edge of the French Vexin, a loop that starts along the Montcient river, with the old Moulin Brûlé, and then alternates between ascents and descents in the woods or between fields.

In the southern French Vexin region, this circuit takes you through fields and woods, playing leapfrog with the River Montcient. The Cave aux Fées, a covered passage dating from 2500 BC, bears witness to ancient human occupation. A dovecote, an old water mill and several wash houses are also worth seeing.

This walk will take you along streams and through countryside, valleys and paths to discover the heritage of three charming villages. Beautiful views are also on the menu for this walk.

This mainly forest hike will take you to the Galluis Regional Forest, then on to the village of Frémainville, where you will discover some interesting heritage sites. It is best to do this walk during the dry season.

During your walk, you will discover this beautiful little village, including its church and wash houses, as well as the surrounding countryside.

During this varied, hilly hike, you will discover three small villages as you stroll along narrow streets and paths. You will walk along a few hillside and woodland trails, discover beautiful viewpoints and stroll along the Seine on your return.

Circular route from Juziers station, alternating between farmland and forests. Several interesting churches (unfortunately often closed), beautiful wash houses, a fountain with its statue still intact. And of course, the beautiful covered walkway of the Mare aux Fées, which is well worth a detour.

The French Vexin region has numerous megalithic sites dating from the late third millennium B.C. This walk gives you the chance to visit a dolmen in a perfect state of preservation. As you stroll through the fields and woods, you will also be able to see some lovely churches and castles.

A water-themed hike: from the meanders of the Aubette to the springs that enliven the Vexin region.

This varied walk invites you to discover some aspects of the Vexin region: charming villages full of flowers, rolling countryside, small streams, refreshing woodland, varied flora and a Gallo-Roman site.

This walk will first take you on a journey of discovery through the heritage of this district of Aubergenville and Épône, an avant-garde holiday resort created in the 1920s. On the way back, you will walk along the Mauldre and Giboin rivers to reach the "beach".

A lovely walk along the banks of the Seine, passing through pretty villages such as Evecquemont. The starting point and finishing point are two stations on the same SNCF line.

A loop starting from Vigny via Théméricourt and Avernes.

The walk begins with a very varied section of the GRP® "Impressionist Seine" trail, starting with the imposing ESA Ariane rocket factory and its loading dock, a charming marina, the Val de Seine leisure island, and several large ponds. It continues with Triel-sur-Seine, its pleasant Parc Senet, and its Église St-Martin with its complex architecture. The crossing of the Bois d'Hautil via easy but unspoilt paths is worth the detour for its chestnut forests dotted with a few beautiful oak trees and pierced by a large number of chasms resulting from the collapse of underground quarries. The walk ends peacefully as you admire the confluence of the Oise and the Seine.

Discover three pretty villages in the French Vexin region with beautiful churches, a stunning castle and varied landscapes of fields, sunny hillsides and even pine forests.

A walk that is half rural, half woodland, allowing you to visit 11 wash houses scattered throughout the region's pretty villages, of various styles and constructions, most of them decorated with flowers, some of which are quite complex in design and/or large in size, offering clear, refreshing running water (although not drinkable), which is much appreciated when temperatures soar above 30°C. Two viewpoints over Mantes-la-Jolie and its collegiate church, and the chimneys of the Porcheville power station, which are often in view.

This hike will take you from the islands of Mantes-la-Jolie to Follainville-Dennemont via Limay (gateway town to the French Vexin Regional Nature Park). You will walk along the Seine and then through woods and fields. You will discover beautiful views, particularly of Mantes and its collegiate church. 

During this walk, you will discover the heritage of Épône, the birthplace of the Fifth Republic, and also set off in search of the wash houses of Mézières through fields, woods and hamlets.

An easy loop around Commeny via Le Perchay and the Chaussée Jules César.

A 17.5-kilometre route starting from Commeny (Val d'Oise) and passing through Santeuil.For fans of naturist hiking (known as "randonue" to those in the know), certain sections of this route can be covered completely naked. Although encounters with other people are possible, the risk is minimal. Don't forget to bring something to cover yourself with (skirt, shorts, sarong, etc.), especially when passing through villages, so as not to shock anyone you might meet. Always be courteous and explain your naturist approach. This hike can of course be done fully clothed, with nudity being a bonus for randonue enthusiasts.The hike starts and ends in the village of Commeny in front of the church. There are parking spaces on Rue de l'Église and in the adjacent streets. There is no public transport to Commeny.

Seventh stage of the Grand Tour of Île-de-France on the GR®11, starting from the village of Genainville, in the heart of the French Vexin, and heading towards Chars station further east. This stage goes hand in hand with the previous Mantes-Genainville stage, with a night in Genainville or the surrounding area necessary to walk between Mantes and Chars stations. This beautiful stage continues the crossing of the equally magnificent French Vexin Regional Nature Park, heading generally eastwards. It joins andthen climbs up the Aubette de Magny valley, crosses a series of agricultural plateaus between Oise and Val d'Oise before descending into the Viosne valley to reach Chars.

Sixth stage of the Grand Tour de l'Île-de-France on the GR® 11, linking Mantes-Station railway station in the Yvelines to the village of Genainville in the Val d'Oise, in the heart of the French Vexin. This stage is the first part of a two-day route, the aim of which is to connect Mantes-Station railway station to Chars railway station, further north-east in the Val d'Oise.The stage begins in Mantes-la-Jolie in the Seine valley and heads north through the south-western part of the Vexin Français Regional Nature Park, quickly passing from one of the lowest points in the region (crossing the Seine, at ~18 m) to one of the highest points (the beech forest at Villiers-en-Arthies, at 205 m).The French Vexin, with its unspoilt agricultural and wooded landscapes, is a magnificent region where it is very pleasant to hike.

This is a ten-kilometre route starting from La Bergerie de Villarceaux in the commune of Chayssy (Val d'Oise) and passing through Genainville. For fans of naturist hiking (known as randonue to those in the know), certain sections of this route can be covered completely naked (from (2) to (8) and from (9) to (S/E). Although encounters are possible, the risk is minimal. Don't forget to bring something to cover yourself with (shorts, sarong, etc.) so as not to shock anyone you might meet. Always be courteous and explain your naturist approach. This hike can of course be done fully clothed. The start and finish are at the Bergerie de Villarceaux. There is a small car park just at the start of the hike. There is no public transport to the Bergerie de Villarceaux.
