Improvised car park on the right next to Lac Vert (space for 3 or 4 cars).
(S/E) Take the path that climbs to the right of the car park, following the green signpost towards Pain de Sucre. At the Virgin of Sablon, turn right onto a path. Climb for about 800m then turn right towards Le Pain de Sucre.
(1) Turn left to reach the crossroads at the unnamed statue of the Virgin Mary (altitude 470 m). You will see a memorial stone commemorating the heroic attack on Pain de Sucre hill.
(2) Head towards Coquin, following the blue triangle signs. Follow the forest road for 600 metres.
(3) At the fork, take the small footpath on the right towards Coquin, following the blue triangle signs. Climb steadily and you will reach the first fountain on the route, the Fontaine Letté.
(4) Continue along the path until you reach another forest road. Stay on this road for a few minutes before taking another small path on the right towards Coquin. This small path leads to the Fontaine des Bœufs.
(5) 20 metres after the Fontaine des Boeufs, at the crossroads, take the path on the left (yellow circle). Join a forest road and continue until you reach the Fontaine du Coquin.
(6) Continue along the forest road. About 500m further on, after the right-hand bend, a small, very steep path on the right (marked with a yellow circle) leads to the Fontaine de Riangoutte, overlooked by a majestic rock that provides shelter in bad weather.
(7) Keep climbing, following the yellow circle markings. You will reach the fortified rock a few metres higher up (inscription and blockhouse). Continue on your way until you reach a fork.
(8) Turn right and immediately head east-northeast (yellow circle markings). Cross a pine forest and go around the Tête du Coquin on its northern slope and then on its eastern slope. You will arrive at a large car park (information board, picnic table).
(9) Head north towards Le Coquin, following the green rectangle. After 200 metres of climbing, you will arrive at the Tête du Coquin. There is a magnificent 360° view. There is also shelter in case of bad weather.
(10) Retrace your steps back to the car park.
(9) Follow a forest road towards Col Ferry. Stay on the track, initially heading south-west then south, and ignore all the side tracks.
(11) At Col Ferry, take the first path on the right, which descends towards Pain de Sucre. Be careful, this path can be slippery in wet weather. Ignore a path coming from the right and pass in front of the Allemands spring. Continue towards Pain de Sucre.
(12) Once you have finished visiting the ruins, head back down east-southeast, then turn left at a sharp angle towards the unnamed statue of the Virgin Mary. 400 metres further down, cross a forest road and continue straight ahead along the path until you reach a second forest road. On this forest road, head down to the right to reach the crossroads with the unnamed statue of the Virgin Mary.
(2) Turn left onto the path you came from.
(1) Head north towards the Virgin of Saublon. At the crossroads, turn left to reach Lac Vert (S/E).
