Large car park near the pier area.
(S/E) From the pier car park, facing the lake, follow the road to the right to find the start of the path a little further on the left.
(1) Follow this path to the left, which winds along the lake (marked with a red ring) to the tip of the bend.
Continue along the forest path on the left for 200 metres.
(2) Take the stairs on the right (marked with a red ring) to reach a forest road 200 m higher up. Turn left onto this road and continue for about 500 m.
(3) Turn right onto the small path marked with a red ring, which will quickly take you up a short, fairly steep climb to the Roches de la Xaveure. Notice the first rock shaped like an elephant's head and follow the path on the right that runs alongside the rocks. Further on, pass in front of the Roche du Guichet. Continue along this path until you reach a forest path at a crossroads.
(4) Turn right onto this forest track, towards the Vierge Clarisse, to reach the crossroads at the forest hut.
(5) Take the mountain bike trail opposite, heading south-east, and climb up to the left, 200 metres further on, onto the D182.
(6) At the Vierge Clarisse, cross the D182 to continue right along the mountain bike trail and, about 50 metres further down, take the Anneau Rouge marked footpath on the right.
(7) Turn right onto the Anneau Rouge trail (modified route) which leads to the Roches de Marie Fontaine. Walk alongside them until you reach the D182.
(8) The round trip to Salm Castle and its beautiful view of the lake is currently closed for renovation (September 2023), but is worth doing when access is possible again.
Continue left along the descending trail (marked with a green rectangle) to the village of Pierre-Percée. Walk down the main street to the town hall.
(9) Just after the town hall, turn right onto Chemin de Froide Fontaine to reach the large car park at the pier (S/E).
