The Mur Païen, 10.5 km long, is the remains of an ancient wall located around the perimeter of Mont Sainte-Odile. At an altitude of 764 m, the summit overlooks the Alsace plain. The Abbey of Hohenbourg, founded by Saint Odile, stands there.

The 10.5 km long "Mur Païen" (Pagan Wall) is the remains of an ancient wall located on Mont Sainte-Odile, a mountain in the Vosges, in the Bas-Rhin department, rising to an altitude of 764 metres and topped by a convent founded by Saint Odile, the Abbey of Hohenbourg, which overlooks the Alsace plain.

Legend attributes the name of the fountain to an event during the war in the time of Charles the Bold. Lorraine partisans, loyal to Duke René, harassed the Burgundians besieging Epinal and managed to lure a detachment of Burgundians into an ambush not far from the fountain. They killed many of the soldiers in the detachment and left the bodies of three of them there.

Saut de la Bourrique is a waterfall in the Vosges mountains in the commune of Gérardmer. The legend associated with the name of this waterfall actually comes from a bourrique that belonged to a lord. Returning from the crusades, he was attacked by bandits, and to protect him the animal threw itself on them at the foot of the waterfall, where it perished with the miscreants. 28/05/2024: Hiking not possible at present: Sentier du saut de la bourrique closed from (1) to (2) by municipal by-law since 15 March 2024 for works. Short walk with no particular technical difficulty, more suited to brisk walking.

This walk will take you through the Ban d'Uxegney National Forest, starting with the Étang de la Comtesse and its peat bog, where you can discover the little "firefly nymph", frogs, water lilies, marsh marigolds, yellow bladderwort and floating bulrush. Not to mention the sundew, which is an insectivorous plant. Throughout this walk, you will also discover the Roches d'Olima, its powder magazine and the supply canal for the Bouzey reservoir.

This easy walk will take you to a Romanesque-style church rebuilt in 1870, featuring a tower and a triple nave.You will also come across a draisine that could pull small wagons, after passing through the Plain’s sensitive natural area. This protected area is rich in flora and fauna.

A hike in the forest of Celles-sur-Plaine, from Pain de Sucre to Roche du Coquin. Discover an observatory built and used by the Germans from 1915 onwards to alert the anti-aircraft defences along the route, knowing that the French air force was entering Alsace via the Col du Donon.

This hike will take you through the Reclos forest with the Rocher des Vannes, Rocher Cuny, Rocher des Arcades and Roche de Cherpierre.

Looking for a varied hike with different terrain? Then look no further than the Three Lakes Hike. Rooted footpaths, forest tracks, uneven terrain, crossing the Gazon du Faing, Lac Noir, Lac Blanc and Lac des Truites (also known as Lac du Forlet) and, on a clear day, a diversion to the Belmont Rocher observatory or Rocher de Hans. A lovely hike to do in fine weather. It's better for the scenery.

A short walk starting from the village of Lapoutroie, heading up to see the Tour du Faudé via the Roche du Chat Noir.Standing 16.50 metres tall, the tower rises above the summit of the Faudé. It was inaugurated on 15 August 2002, offering visitors the chance to take in the superb landscapes of the Welche region and the surrounding area.And to round off your day, you can pop into the Haxaire cheese dairy, where Munster cheese is made.

Short walk with a steep climb at the start and a beautiful view from the Roche de Saint-Blaise. The finish isn't great, as it's in a housing estate, but I must admit I did this walk with my young dog Marcus to prepare him for future hikes with me.

The first stage of a two-day bivouac hike with an overnight stay at Lac de Blanchemer, passing by Lac du Lispach, which is reminiscent of a Canadian landscape, and the Machais peat bog. Difficulty and beautiful views sum up this first stage.

Second stage of this hike with bivouac. This time, Lac Lalande, Lac de Retournemer, Cascade Charlemagne and Cascade de Retournemer will be on your route, allowing you to discover magnificent colours.

With its dam, the Roches de la Xaveure – some of which are shaped like animals – Salm Castle (or Château de Pierre-Percée) and the little village that bears its name, Lake Pierre-Percée offers landscapes with a distinctly Canadian feel.
