In Moussey, on the D49, head towards Col de Prayé, then after 1 km, take a small road on the right (Sentier de Découverte) and park in the car park opposite the Rain de la Vierge pond.
(S/E) Take the path that climbs to the right of the pond: marked with a green cross. You will come to a crossroads.
(1) The path ends here; turn onto the path that climbs to the right, then after 200 m change direction and take the path on the left, still climbing. This path overlooks the Rabodeau, which is below on the left.
(2) Cross the Ruisseau du Gentil Sapin and then the Rabodeau and reach the Chavons car park on the right along the road. Take the path that leaves the road on the right: Anneau Bleu (Blue Ring) markings - Rouges Terres route. After a few dozen metres, take the footbridge over the stream and then turn left onto the path that climbs uphill.
(3) At the crossroads, go straight ahead. Continue uphill, keeping the same direction at the successive crossroads: Anneau Bleu markings. You will come out onto a forest path.
(4) Cross it and take the Blue Ring trail opposite. Continue straight ahead to leave the forest, then continue on the trail across open ground and stubble until you reach a junction.
(5) Follow the Red Triangle marked trail to the right, towards Marcairie. After 500 m, you will come out onto the Route Forestière des Hautes Chaumes.
(6) Follow it to the right, keeping to the red triangle, and continue to a crossroads.
(7) Leave the forest road and take a small, inconspicuous path on the left marked with a red cross. Continue until you reach the forest road you left earlier and follow it to the left. Look out for the ruins of the Marcairie on your left, below in the vegetation.
(8) Immediately afterwards, take a small path on the right (marked with a red triangle) which climbs up tothe Abri de la Haute Loge: panoramic view of the surrounding area. Descend on the other side via the red triangle path marked Moussey, join a forest road at the bottom of the descent and turn left.
(9) At the crossroads, turn right down the forest road: green disc markings. Note the wooden locomotive in the countryside on the left. Shortly after this, turn left onto the path following the green disc markings. You will come to a crossroads with an information board and a bench.
(10) Head right and pass under the triangular wooden porch to follow a beautiful downhill path offering unobstructed views: Blue Triangle and Yellow Rectangle markings. You will reach a star-shaped intersection of tracks and paths.
(11) Ignore the two marked paths opposite and turn right onto a dark, not very visible path: ignore the track on the right. The Grand-Goutte stream on the left accompanies the descent of this magnificent unmarked path.
(12) Cross a bog on wet rocks and continue. Reach the intersection with a road at a small car park.
(13) Continue along the forest road on the right which climbs uphill: marked with a blue sign.
(14) At the intersection with a path, continue straight ahead, staying on the forest road, and walk for about 350 metres. Then leave it for a path on the left.
(15) Pass the Totem des Passeurs (2006) and continue on the Chevalet Bleu marked path.
(16) Pass the Sonia Waterfall, rejoin a forest road and follow it to the right until you reach a crossroads with a picnic area on the left below.
(17) Ignore the first path that descends to the left as you leave Chevalet Bleu, then a little further on, ignore the second path on the left (Croix Rouge). Continue along the unmarked forest path that climbs to the right and leads to another crossroads with a picnic area at the end and a reservoir on the left.
(18) Take the discreet path on the left that passes in front of the reservoir and descends into the vegetation. You will arrive at the road. The Rain de la Vierge pond (S/E) is about 50 metres to the right.
