Description of the walk

The hike starts from the car park at Place de la Gare in Allarmont.

(S/E) Head towards Rue Charles Lecuve (D183), then turn right. Pass over La Plaine and enter the village of Bionville via Rue du Centre

(1). Take the first street on the right, then the uphill street on the left, Voie Communale de la Voie Base. Join a gravel track.

(2) Turn right for 20 metres, then take the small road going uphill on the left, Croix Jaune. At elevation 480, join a track.

(3) Turn right and continue on the first path going uphill to the left, marked with a yellow cross, until you reach a junction of small paths.

(4) Continue left, following the blue cross towards Croix Bodin. Take the first steep path uphill on the right, towards Haut de la Borne, passing between the Rambiroche Rocks.

(5) At the T-junction, turn right to climb above the Rambiroche Rocks for the viewpoint, then return and continue along the small path, red cross towards Haut de la Borne. Reach a track at Croix Bodin.

(6) Turn left at Croix Rouge, Croix Bleu and take the first small path on the left.

(7) Turn left against the building to see the Roche aux Cochons viewpoint, return and continue on the track. Pass in front of the second antenna.

(8) At the bend in the track, take the small path on the left to reach the second viewpoint, then return and continue along the track.

(9) At Col de la Borne, at an elevation of 578 metres, continue straight ahead on the Croix Bleue track, then continue straight ahead at the T-junction with another track.

(10) At the barrier shortly afterwards, take the small path on the left, at the information sign, continue along this small path marked Sentier de Mémoire and enter the site of the First World War ruins via Les Roches Ganaux. Also follow the Croix Bleue markings, take the various small paths on the right or left to visit the different structures and each time return to this small path.

(11) At the T-junction, turn right towards Chapelotte and continue along the Croix Bleu trail, passing three structures: a two-storey blockhouse and a logistics centre building with a small stone marker, making small detours

(12) Under the high-voltage power line, turn left, follow the GR®533 and the green rectangle markings and pass through the cemetery with its gravestones.

(13) After the cemetery, follow the track on the left, marked with a green rectangle.

(14) Take the first path up to the left, turning 150°.

(15) Shortly afterwards, follow the first path on the right and the Sentier de Mémoire markings, walking along the bottom of the trench, making small detours to the right and left to see the various structures and return to this Green Rectangle path.

(16) At the X-shaped crossroads, continue straight ahead on the track.

(17) Take the small path on the left and pass in front of the military structures. Join a track at the Corsica Stele.

(18) Follow it to the left for 50 metres and continue along the small path down to the right. Pass in front of the various French structures. Join a track and continue straight ahead, leaving the track on the left.

(19) Join the D992 at Col de la Chapelotte and turn right to see the stele.

(20) Retrace your steps to pass between the two columns and continue to the chapel, then turn left to pass in front of the iron cross and return to the track you took on the way there. At the Y-junction of two tracks, take the uphill track on the right. Join the intersection you passed on the way there.

(16) Continue straight ahead on the track and return to another intersection you passed on the way there.

(14) Continue straight ahead on the track, Green Rectangle, i.e. take the opposite route to the one you took on the way there.

(13) Continue straight ahead, leaving the route you took on the way there.

(21) After the high-voltage power line, at the X-shaped junction, continue straight ahead. At the next four junctions, keep to the right.

(10) Pass the intersection from the outward journey and continue straight ahead, following the reverse route of the outward journey.

(9) At Col de la Borne, turn right onto the descending track, marked with a yellow disc.

(22) Leave the track and take the small path on the right, marked with a yellow disc.

(23) Cross the track and continue straight downhill. Then continue along Rue des Grottes. At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue de l'Église, then immediately left onto Rue du Centre and return to the crossroads you passed at the start of the walk.

(1) Continue along Rue du Centre and follow the route in reverse to return to the car park (S/E).
