Start from the Butinière car park, at the bottom of the bus station.
(S/E) From the car park, take Rue Edmond Martin, which runs alongside the railway line.
(1) At the T-junction, turn right onto Rue Pierre Curie, cross the railway tracks and turn right. Pass the wash house and go uphill.
(2) At the T-junction, turn right onto Rue Sourbes, then left at the roundabout onto Rue Saint-Criq and left again onto Chemin des Iris. Enter through the large gate, go behind the castle to find a gate on the right. Follow the path to the first viewpoint and continue along the path.
(3) 100 metres further on, opposite a gate on your right, turn left onto the path that goes downhill. Follow this path around the ballastière (pond), then pass in front of an original white lodge.
(4) Before the end of the pond, turn right onto the marked path that climbs up through the woods.
(5) When you reach a T-junction, turn left onto the path that descends to the road.
(6) At the crossroads just after, follow Rue Pimpin on the left, which descends towards old Lormont. Turn left onto Rue du Chalet, then right onto Rue de la Cité. Turn left again onto Rue Jean Jaurès to pass under the railway line. A few metres further on, turn right onto Rue du Général de Gaulle, then pass under the railway line again and continue straight ahead on Rue du Général de Gaulle.
(7) Go to number 110 on the street and turn left onto Rue du Sang to admire the Château du Prince Noir on your left. At the end of the visit, take Rue Raymond Lis opposite, then, at the T-junction, continue right to join Rue du Général de Gaulle at Place Auberny. Turn left and continue for a few metres.
(8) Turn right onto Rue de Bordeaux, then take the second street on the right, Rue de Fontainebleau. At the end of this street, take the path opposite that leads to the cemetery. Enter, then turn right towards the middle to find the exit. Continue straight ahead, then turn left onto Rue Jean Blandin.
(9) At the end of this street, leave the church on your right and take Rue du Kiosque on your left, which climbs up between pleasant little houses on your left and small gardens on your right. After the stadium, at the T-junction, turn right and continue for a few metres until you reach the junction you passed on the way in.
(6) Continue left along the route you have already taken and return to the X-shaped crossroads.
(5) Leave the path you took on the way there on your right and turn left to reach the water tower. Continue straight ahead to reach the starting crossroads on the small square.
(3) Exit through the gate to reach the Verdière housing estate on the left. Pass in front of the castle, turn left at the roundabout, then right at the next roundabout towards Rue Izzet Koc to reach La Butinière (S/E).
If you parked at the castle, turn onto the third street on the right, Rue des Iris, to return to the Château des Iris car park.
