Without markings
(S/E) Turn your back on the church, head right (south-west) and go up the street (Chemin de la Colombière). Cross Impasse de la Colombière on the left. At the next intersection, turn right onto Chemin des Lanches. At the stop sign, go straight ahead and cross the hamlet of Chullien.
Red and yellow markings
(1) At the T-junction, follow a small road on the left that climbs gently. After about 400 m, the tarmac gives way to a track that turns left.
No markings
About 50 metres after the left turn, turn right onto the main road (ignore the red and yellow markings that tell you to continue straight ahead). Walk between two meadows, then first turn right then left to reach an intersection at the edge of the plateau.
Blue markings
(2) Turn right onto a path that descends towards Les Moulins de Maravant. Follow a few switchbacks interspersed with wooden steps, then climb gently up the hillside. Cross a stream on a footbridge without a railing and continue along the hillside.
Yellow markings
(3) At the "Moulins du Maravant" signpost, turn right towards Thièze. Immediately ignore a path on the right (not shown on IGN maps) and walk up the Maravant River located below on the right. Cross the river on a wooden footbridge, then walk up a path interspersed with steps. Pass a small waterfall on your left and cross a stream via a footbridge without railings. Continue climbing until you reach a T-junction ("Gresin" signpost). Turn left towards Thièze. The path immediately turns right and passes between two fenced meadows. You will come out onto a small road; follow it to the left for a few dozen metres.
Blue markings
(4) When the road turns left, take a discreet path on the right towards Thièze/La Gerbaz. Climb slightly along a stream (wet passage). At the T-junction, turn right onto a path which, at the first houses, gives way to tarmac. At the next junction (sign for "Thièze dessus"), turn sharply left towards Thièze/La Gerbaz.
No markings
(5) At the start of a sharp right-hand bend, leave the road and turn left onto a path that is not shown on the IGN map. Immediately ignore a path on the right (metal barrier). Walk north, ignoring vague paths on the left. The path narrows and gives way to a trail. Pass a small pond on your right. Cross the Maravant river via a stone ford and continue straight ahead on a narrow trail through a dark pine forest. Continue on a wider trail through deciduous undergrowth (plot no. 7).
(6) At the T-junction, turn left. Go straight ahead between plots 7 and 9 and ignore a path on the left (not shown on IGN maps). At the next junction (elevation 677), go straight ahead (north). Leave the woods and you will soon come to a gravel track.
Red and yellow markings
(7) Follow the track to the left. Wind your way through the meadows and ignore all the paths on the right. You will come out onto a small road and follow it to the right, slightly downhill.
No markings
At the educational farm (elevation 637), continue straight ahead on the road (ignore the red and yellow arrow indicating a left turn). Cross the hamlet of Cornellaz.
(8) Just after the sign marking the end of the hamlet, turn right onto Chemin des Bévères. At the next intersection, at the foot of an electricity pole on the right-hand side, turn left and descend onto a stony path. Pass a large shed on the right and continue downhill. Join the small road you took on the way there and follow it to the right until you reach the cemetery car park (S/E).
