The Bois des Gaules circular walk

Parking is available at the town hall car park.

(S/E) Setting off from the car park on the right, you enter the Bois des Gaules along a path at the edge of the forest. You follow the plateau along a fairly straight path which takes you to the end of the woodland, where you’ll come to a fork.

(1) Turn right and follow the winding path down to the River Aulne. You can also take the path on the left at the fork and follow a narrower path along the hillside which leads to the same point (a more ‘scenic’ alternative). Walk alongside the Aulne and you’ll come to an impressive avenue of Douglas firs.

(2) Leave the path in front of the cemetery, turn left and head back uphill.

(3) Be sure to take a break at the top of the hairpin bends on the ‘banc à Suzanne’, then head back towards the car park (S/E).

At the cemetery, you can head into the centre of La Celle and admire Saint-Germain Church and the Duchess of Uzès’s hunting lodge before making your way back up to the car park.
