Start from the car park of the Yves Duteil School in Fouquières-lès-Béthune, Rue Basse.
(S/E) Walk up Rue Basse, turn left onto Rue Henri Barbusse and continue along this street until you reach the end. Take the path that continues along it. Follow the Blanche river, pass the first small bridge on your right and follow the path to the next bridge, which you will cross. Once you have crossed the bridge, take the path on the left that runs alongside the river.
(1) Go under the railway line and immediately turn left, cross the Blanche and, a little further on, cross the bridge over the Lawe and immediately turn left.
(2) Take the footbridge over the water and under the railway line. At the end, turn right.
(3) At the crossroads, turn right and follow the path to the gate (intersection with Rue du Marais). At this barrier, take the small path on the right that goes uphill, then turns left. Continue to the end and turn right onto Rue du Marais.
(4) Cross over and follow the path opposite that runs alongside the railway line. Continue until you reach a house (60, Rue des Déportés), then turn right and start climbing the slag heap.
(5) Turn left at the hairpin bend. 300 metres further on, take the hairpin bend on the right. Leave the path on the left and continue straight ahead. Follow this small winding path.
(6) At the crossroads, go straight ahead and take the very small path on the right after the copse. At the top, enjoy the view. Descend via the path to the south-east, which joins the path that goes around the slag heap. Further on, at thethree-way junction, turn left, at the next three-way junction, keep to the right and at the next three-way junction, turn right onto the lane.
(7) Cross the road, continue along the path opposite and follow it to the end. Turn left onto Rue des Poteries. Walk down this street to the traffic lights and turn right onto Rue de Gosnay. Cross at the pedestrian crossing before the bridge and follow the road that runs alongside the A26 for 400 metres.
(8) Turn left onto the farm track that runs alongside the Blanche on your right. Follow it to the end to reach Rue de Fouquereuil. Turn left and follow it for about 100 metres, then turn right onto the farm track (cross at the pedestrian crossing; the track continues straight ahead). At the end, turn right then left to return to the starting point (S/E).
