La catorive à Béthune

Start from Place du Général de Gaulle.

(S/E) Leave the car park and head towards Rue du Docteur Leleu, then follow it to the left until you reach Boulevard du Général de Gaulle.

(1) Turn immediately right onto this road and go under the bridge. Continue straight ahead onto Chemin des Bateliers, then turn left onto Rue de la Gare d'Eau and follow it for 150 m until you reach a path.

(2) Turn right onto this path and walk alongside the ponds to the end of the path.

(3) Turn left and follow the canal on your right. Continue along this path and return via the other bank, keeping to the right. Walk to the bridge you passed earlier.

(4) This time, cross the bridge and take the steps on the right to head left, go back under the bridge and follow the path in the opposite direction to the outward journey, until you reach the initial fork.

(1) Go straight on along Rue du Général de Gaulle, then take the path on the left. Cross Rue du Pont de Pierres (D837), go under a bridge and continue straight on along Rue du Halage, until you reach the cul-de-sac of the same name.

(5) Take the path (GRP®) on the left running parallel to the street and continue straight on, skirting the marina until you reach the Canal d’Aire à la Bassée.

(6) Turn left, cross the bridge, then follow the path on the left and continue further along the path on the right. Keep going straight on until you reach the bridge.

(7) Keep left, then immediately turn right to avoid crossing the road. Go under the bridge, turn right and follow the marina to the end, until you reach a side street.

(8) Take Rue du Quai de Bray on the left to cross the harbour, and continue straight on until the third junction.

(9) Follow Rue du Pré des Bois to the right until it ends at Rue d’Aire (837).

(10) First turn left then right onto Rue d'Annequin, then opposite number 480, keep left onto the grassy path (Sentier des Dames) at the start. This narrows further on, leading to Avenue du Pont des Dames.

(11) Keep right onto this road, then left onto Boulevard Roger Salengro. At the end, turn right onto Rue du Banquet Réformiste, continuing until you reach Avenue Sully.

(12) Keep left twice, then enter the park and keep left until the next entrance. Walk round the lake on the right-hand side, and exit onto Rue Béranger.

(13) Cross the road to Avenue Rouget de Lisle, then cross the Maréchal Foch car park, turning left until you reach the corner.

(14) At the car park exit, cross the street and head straight ahead, then turn right onto Rue du Tir, then left twice and take the first right onto Rue de la Délivrance, until you reach Rue des Martyrs.

(15) Turn right onto Rue des Martyrs and continue straight on towards the large square and the belfry, then turn left opposite the belfry, and you will find Rue Anatole France opposite. Keep to the right and cross Place de la République diagonally to reach the corner of Rue Albert 1er and Boulevard Victor Hugo.

(16) Go straight on Rue du Maréchal Joffre, and cross the square diagonally. Cross the two streets and head opposite to reach Rue du Quai du Rivage. At the roundabout, follow the avenue for a few metres then keep left, and continue to the car park (S/E).
