(S/E) Departure from the hamlet of Les Cours, above the road between Villar d'Arêne and the Col du Lautaret.
A crossroads in the village indicates the lake on the left, but turn right as this will be the route down. At the top of the village, another sign indicates the lake. If possible, continue climbing, as the path is sometimes poorly marked.
At an altitude of around 1,900 metres, pass the few houses in Le Chazelet.
(1) Join the stream a little higher up, which is the one that flows down from the lake, which you will quickly reach. La Meije is slightly hidden by the Bec de l'Homme, but the view is no less impressive
(2). Go around the lake. The descent is via the normal path.
(3) Join the small road climbing up from Les Cours, where you will reach the hamlet (S/E).
