The hike starts from the hamlet of Les Hières, located in the commune of La Grave, leaving your car at the entrance to the village.
(S/E) Cross the Hamlet of Les Hières along the main street and, at the exit, follow the semi-passable track heading north-east, which will take you in half an hour to the hamlets of Valfroide, Pramailler and Le Pré Rond.
(1) Continue along the wide path until you reach the hamlet of Le Plot.
(2) Cross pleasant meadows where large yellow gentians abound. Looking up, you can see the trail heading northeast that will take you to Lac du Goléon.
After entering a cattle and sheep pasture, the trail begins to climb in switchbacks, first in the middle of the meadow, then in a much more rocky environment. The markings are practically non-existent, but the trail is easily visible. Continue climbing, following the course of the stream flowing down from the lake in the distance. Reach the overhang above the lake.
(3) Begin the short descent to reach the turquoise lake with a refuge located on the ridge above the lake.
(4) Return via the same route to the car park at Les Hières (S/E).
