Description of the walk

Park on the Place d’Orbais-l’Abbaye.

(S/E) Set off to the right of the abbey church towards the war memorial and continue straight on along Rue Thiers (after 20 m on the right is the entrance to the ‘AXON’ workshops). At the end of the street, at the junction, follow the arrow to the right towards La Ville-sous-Orbais and head down Rue Basse Saint Prix to the right for 100 m.

(1) At the bottom of the street, at the junction, turn left up Rue Sainte Barbe. At the top of the street, take the small stone staircase on the right and cross Rue du Général de Gaulle (D11) at the pedestrian crossing. Immediately turn left onto the village track (which is a bit steep) and follow it for 900 m towards Le Tremblay.

(2) After the farm, take the farm track on the right and continue straight on for 1 km until you reach the edge of the forest. Continue along the track.

(3) Take the local road on the right.

(4) At the junction, follow the arrow opposite towards La Ville-sous-Orbais. Follow the local road down to the village.

(5) At the junction, take the D42 on the right. At the next crossroads, carry on straight ahead towards Orbais-l’Abbaye. After 250 metres, turn left onto the local track and head down to the Moulin de la Ville.

(6) At the mill, follow the arrow on the right towards Orbais-l’Abbaye. Cross the stream, which feeds into the Surmelin (50 m below). Continue along the track for 1.2 km, heading uphill towards Orbais-l’Abbaye.

(7) At the entrance to the industrial estate, carry on straight ahead towards the silo along the small path between the businesses on the left and the houses on the right. At the junction, in front of the silo, carry on straight along the road leading to the school. Continue along the road to the left until you reach the ‘Stop’ sign on the D11.

(8) Cross the road carefully at the pedestrian crossing. Walk 15 metres up to the right towards the village and take the street on the left towards the bus shelter. Cross the bridge over the stream, which flows beneath the village houses. Immediately after the leat, turn right up Ruelle des Archers, which leads after 150 m to Place Jehan d’Orbais. Turn right towards the abbey church and the square (S/E).
