Description of the walk

Start from Baulne-en-Brie. You can park on Rue des Saules near the tourist sign for the Surmelin Valley.

(S/E) Head north along the Grande Rue D420 towards the church.

(1) At the crossroads, carry on straight ahead, leaving the church on your left. Continue along Rue de la Chapelle.

(2) At the corner by the cemetery, take a path on the right at the foot of the vineyards. Keep going straight on (south-east). Cross a small wooded valley and follow a concrete path uphill beneath the vineyards. Continue eastwards, keeping the vineyards on your left. The path then continues through the fields.

(3) You’ll come out onto a road; follow it to the right and immediately ignore another road on the left. Atthe Stop sign, follow the D23 (Rue du Vieux Moulin) to the right until you reach the centre of Le Breuil.

(4) Just before the bridge over the Surmelin, turn right, following the arrow towards Baulne-en-Brie (picnic table on the other side of the bridge). The path is tarmac for 300 m, then becomes grassy. Walk between fields and meadows along the Surmelin before turning away from it.

(5) Turn left onto the path and continue west-north-west towards Baulne-en-Brie. After the first house, turn left down Rue Morte Haie. Cross Rue du Pont on the left-hand side and join Rue des Saules (S/E).
