Le Grand Glaiza from the hamlet of Lombard
The start from the hamlet of Lombard offers an alternative to the classic route from the Bergerie du Lombard.
A very beautiful route to climb to the summit of Grand Glaiza, the third highest peak in Queyras, via the Malrif lakes. The breathtaking views will more than compensate for the effort required.
The Grand Glaiza
Located at the bottom of the Fonts de Cervières valley, this 3,293-metre peak marks the border with Italy. It is very easy to access and offers remarkable views of the peaks of Queyras and Ubaye and, when not hidden by the nebia, the nearby Mont Viso.
Refuge des Fonts de Cervières – Andrea Tornior Bivouac
A fairly alpine stage of the Queyras Transfrontière, featuring the ascent of a magnificent 3,000-metre peak: Le Grand Glaiza.
The start of this stage is accessible by car via Cervières on the D902 from Briançon, then the D89T through Cervières.
Grand Glaiza and the Malrif Lakes from Les Fonts de Cervières
A long walk through the Pierre Rouge valley to reach the Grand Glaiza via the Crête aux Eaux Pendantes and its rocky landscape, with the return route passing through the Lacs du Malrif to return to greenery.

Abriés - Aiguilles
The seventh and final stage takes you past the Malrif lakes under the ridge separating Queyras and Briançonnais.
The balcony path between Aiguilles and Ville-Vieille
The walk mostly follows a ridge above the Guil valley between Aiguilles and Ville-Vieille. We recommend returning via the free shuttle bus, which runs between Château-Queyras and L’Échalp.
Valpréveyre - Lago Verde
First stage of Circuit Franco-Italian border "Queyras in Val Pellice" punctuated by passages through three interesting passes: Malaure, Bouchet and Vampréveyre.
Valpréveyre Campsite – La Monta Campsite
Stage 4
From the charming Valpréveyre campsite, a long climb through the mountain pastures to the Col d’Urine, followed by a descent that is initially rough but then becomes easier, leading to the Jervis mountain hut. From there, a magnificent climb to the Col Lacroix, before a descent through increasingly wooded terrain back to the La Monta campsite
Lago Verde - Crosenna Alp
2nd stage is entirely in Italy allowing you to walk alongside the many military buildings that protect the nearby border. The long descent before the shelter lets you enjoy the Italian pastures that appear much greener than the French. This is due to the more abundant moisture from this side of the border.
Nino Sardi Mountain Hut – Granero Mountain Hut
A transitional stage – a little long, but ending at a remarkable site. A short off-trail section between the Col de Malaure and the Col d’Urine requires a bit of care.
Lodge du Grand Rochebrune – Lodge le Teppio
This stage follows part of theGR®® 58, then takes a route offthe GR®® to climb to the Col d’Izoard. Admittedly, this ascent is via the road, but on a day when vehicles are banned, allowing you to enjoy this lunar landscape with its monoliths. The return journey takes you through a deserted ravine. The limestone landscapes of this stage are nothing like those encountered since the start of the Tour du Queyras, which is characterised by slate.
From the hamlet of La Monta to the village of Abriès
This stage of the Queyras circuit can also form part of the Mont Viso circuit. For walkers travelling by train, a bus departs from Mont-Dauphin Guillestre station and serves the village of Abriès-Ristolas.
La Monta Mountain Hut – Abriès Campsite
Thisfourth stage is a variant ofthe GR® route, setting off from the Refuge de la Monta and heading to the Abriès winter caravan site. The hike begins with a challenging section through larch forests to reach the Crêtes de Peyra-Plata and then the Crêtes de Gilly. The path follows a beautiful ridge line offering views to the south of the Grand Queyras, Le Viso, the Crêtes de Taillante and the Ristollas Valley, and to the north of the Tête du Pelvas, the Bric Bouchet, the Bric Froid, the Grand Glaiza and the Pic de Roquebrune.
Strada del Valle Argentera
A wonderful mountain bike ride from Sestrières to the Valle d’Argent. A stunning spot at the bottom of a beautiful, unspoilt valley. Waterfalls, rivers… well worth a visit. The climb back up to Sestrières is a bit technical.
