Start and parking at 60 Rue de la Couturelle in Maubeuge (follow the directions in order or Mail de la Sambre - Park at Mail de la Sambre
Head towards the roundabout on Boulevard de l'Europe, cross it and continue straight ahead on the towpath. The Sambre is on your left.
Before the EPHAD (large building with a blue roof), turn right. Follow the directions from (6)
(S/E) Enter the natural area and follow the gravel path parallel to La Flamenne. Then take the grassy path on the right. At the end, leave the cemetery on your right and follow the bend to the left until you reach Rue Ampère.
(1) Cross this road, continue straight ahead and take the dead-end path between houses 28 and 30. Immediately take the small gravel path on the left towards the wooden footbridge. Keep following the gravel path. Go up the four steps, turn right onto Rue de la Flamenne and go under the bridge. Continue until you reach the information sign about the urban green and blue network.
(2) Enter the natural area on your right and follow the gravel path (educational pond). Cross two wooden footbridges (fitness trail). Continue along the gravel path on the left, cross the bridge and continue to the right. Go under the brick railway bridge and continue along Rue de la Flamenne. Go to the stop sign and turn right. Cross Pont 5230 over the Flamenne.
(3) Cross the road and take the dirt track on the left. Turn right onto Rue de la Centrale Électrique and pass under the bridge on your left. Turn right at the sign for "Accès public berge de la Sambre" and follow the fence straight ahead. At the end, you will arrive at the Sambre river on the cycle path. Turn left, go under a bridge (Desvres site). Continue along the Sambre.
(4) Go under another bridge, where the La Flamenne flows into the Sambre. Go over a small bridge, continue straight ahead, and you will see a blue stone marker "Sambre canalisée 38 km" on your left. You will see the Louvroil water tower on your right and the church in the distance. Go under the bridge, passing a mansion known on the map as a château on your left in the commune of Louvroil. Pass a second blue stone marker marked "Sambre canalisée 39 km" on your left. Cross another bridge.
(5) Pass under this bridge, then quickly under another one. Continue straight ahead, passing under two bridges. Opposite you, you will see the glass roof of the Sthrau Hall in Maubeuge and the Coutelle secondary school to its left. Continue to the remains of the fortifications on your left.
(6) Keep to your left. The road climbs. At the end, turn left onto Rue d'Hautmont, cross the pedestrian crossing in front of the retirement home with the blue roof and continue straight ahead until you reach the Parc du Tilleul on your right.
(7) Enter through the beautiful gate, cross the park and head towards the exit on the right near the water tower. Exit through the gate and turn left onto Impasse Fiévet. Cross the road and turn left onto Rue de la Liberté. Take the second right at the roundabout towards Faubourg de Douzies. You are still on Rue de la Liberté. Continue straight ahead, ignoring all side roads (three crossroads).
(8) Turn left at the fourth street, Rue du Corbeau. Ignore a dead-end street on the left and turn left onto Rue Jeanne d'Arc. Ignore the road on the left. At the stop sign, turn left onto Rue de Sous-le-Bois. Cross at the pedestrian crossing. At the roundabout, take the first right until you see the information sign for the urban greenway network. Enter Parc de la Flamenne. You will see the orchard on your right. Go down and cross the wooden footbridge over La Flamenne. Continue along the gravel path until you return to your starting point (S/E).
