Departure from Viarmes station (section of the Transilien Line H with Luzarches as the terminus).
(S/E) With your back to the station, follow Avenue Foch to the right, marked in red and white (access to the GR®1). Before the level crossing, turn left into Rue de la Justice. Further on, leave Rue Anna de Noailles on your left.
(1) At the crossroads, join the GR®1 by heading down Ruelle de la Nourrie opposite. Ignore the alleys to the left and right.
(2) At the end, turn left into Rue du Montcel. Then turn right into Rue de la Gare. Turn left into Rue Émile Zola and cross Avenue G. Clemenceau at the pedestrian crossing.
(3) Head left along the small pond. Follow the Route de Saint-Martin du Tertre. Cross Rue Blaise Pascal. Ignore the alleyway on the left and, after the bend to the right, go straight on into Rue de la Fontaine d'Amour. After the private car park on the right, take the path on the left that goes uphill. On the climb, ignore the paths on the left.
(4) At Rond de Chantilly, ignore the three paths on the left and take the small path opposite marked in red and white. Go downhill and ignore the path branching off to the left. At Carrefour de la Seigneurie, take Ruelle du Crocq on the left.
(5) After number 14, take the narrow passage on the left. Turn right into Rue de la Motte then left into Ruelle Courty.
(6) When this turns right, take the path on the left which leads into a wood. Ignore the paths coming from the left. Ignore the path which descends to the right along a clearing. Continue straight ahead and pass by an alpaca farm.
(7) At the end of the path, take the road on the right, then immediately left onto Rue G. Picot. Ignore the dead-end on the left, then Rue de la République on the right. Leave Rue Victor Hugo by turning right onto Place Gambetta. Follow Rue Jules Ferry, ignoring the streets leading uphill on the left and the street leading downhill on the right. Turn right onto Rue Paul Bert.
(8) Head up to the left of the church, staying on Rue Paul Bert. Pass the footpath and then the street coming from the right. At the end of Rue Pasteur, turn left onto Rue J. J. Rousseau, then right onto Rue de Bossang. Leave Rue de Bossang for Ruelle des Coutumes, which climbs to the right into a wood. Go straight on under the high-voltage power lines.
(9) Enter the Carnelle Forest. At the next crossroads, go straight on. Then take the path on the right
and finally turn left at the next junction.
(10) At the Carnelle crossroads, take the third path on the left, the Route du Ringuet, to the D85. Cross this road and then turn right to go down the first path on the left, marked in red and white. Take the road on the right. Before the no-entry sign, take the path on the right at the end of the car park. Walk alongside Lac Bleu. Then head left towards the car park and the Carrefour du Pas de la Vache.
(11) Take the Route de la Touffe opposite. Go straight on at the next junction and then take the second path on the right. Cross the Route des Champs Blancs to join the Route de la Pierre Turquaise. Turn right, then left at the barrier towards the covered walkway.
(12) Follow the red and white marked path. Cross the Route de la Pierre Turquaise again. At the bottom of the descent, at the crossroads, go straight up. At the top of the climb, turn left and at the T-junction, turn right, then ignore the paths on the right.
(13) At the bottom of Chemin de la Carrière, take the second left, Rue du Bois Belle Fille. Further on, in a wood, this street crosses two streams. After the second bridge, ignore the road on the right and head up to the D78. Walk alongside the road on the right, then cross it carefully (no pedestrian crossing) to take the D64E on the left.
(14) Leave theGR®1by turning right at the junction. Cross the D78 again and turn left. Before the railway bridge, turn right into Rue Danielle Casanova. Turn right again into Rue de la Nappe.
(15) At the end, turn right into Rue A. Prachay then left into Rue d’Estienne d’Orves. Then turn right into Ruelle Tortue. At the very end, turn left into Rue des Éclaireurs Partisans. Follow this street to the end, ignoring all the streets branching off to the right and left.
(16) Take the road straight ahead, even though it’s a no-entry road. Pass to the right of the water tank and ignore the path on the left. At the next junction, head straight ahead and ignore the path on the left again. At Carrefour Neuf, take the second path on the right. At the junction, follow the lake on the right. Take the road on the right, then the first path on the left. Turn left again, then right to reach Lac Bleu.
(17) Walk along the lake. After the wooden bridge, ignore the path coming from the left. Then keep left twice, cross the road to reach the Petit Étang. Walk along the right-hand side of the lake to its far end. At the hairpin bend, take the path on the right. At the end, turn left then head uphill to the left again until you reach the D85. Cross the road to take the path opposite. Turn right at the second junction.
(18) At the Carrefour du Chêne Quentin, take the Route d’Asnières on the left. Stay on the tarmac until you reach the barrier.
(4) At the Rond de Chantilly, head down the Route des Princes opposite. At the pedestrian crossing, take the path on the right then head down to the left towards the Présier wash house.
(19) Follow the Chemin du Présier, then turn right into Rue du Gaudron. Take the first street on the right, Rue de la Fontaine d’Amour. Continue along this street to the left at the next junction. At the end, after the Stop sign, ignore the road on the right and turn right into Ruelle de l'Auge. Then take the second street on the right, Rue des Caboissons. Ignore Rue de la Fontaine Saint-Pierre on the right.
(20) Take the first path on the left. At the end, turn right and then ignore the path on the left. Further on, ignore the paths coming from the left and then from the right. Take the pedestrian crossing to the right of the roundabout and then turn left. Then take Avenue Foch on the right towards the station. Pass Rue Pasteur on the left to reach Viarmes Station (S/E).
