The walk starts from the Place de la Mairie in Viarmes in the Val d'Oise.
You can get there either by car and park in the Place de la Mairie itself or in the surrounding streets on busy days (market day), or by RER, with Viarmes station about 1 km from the town centre.
(S) Take Rue de la Grange to the left of the town hall, then turn left into Rue de l'Étang and cross the park towards the college. Go around it on the left, taking Rue de la Fontaine d'Amour.
When you reach the private car park (on a slope on the right), turn left. The path begins with a tarmac section about 30 metres long and continues as a steeply ascending footpath. At the fork, towards the top of the hill, continue to the right.
(1) At the crossroads with the tarmac Princes road, turn right at the Chantilly Forest Road barrier and take the markedGR® trail downhill.
(2) When the path joins the paved road at the "Carrefour de la Seigneurie", turn left to pass in front of the houses lining Rue de Cat Rouge.
(3) Admire the Château de la Reine Blanche, then continue along Rue du Cat Rouge until you reach Rue de l'Orme.
Turn left into the cul-de-sac and continue along Chemin de l'Orme, which continues along the same path (markedGR®). The path alternates between meadows and copses. Note the alpaca farm as you pass by.
After passing a farm, the path joins a paved road. Turn right to reach the centre of Noisy-sur-Oise and head towards the church.
(4) At the church (beautiful view of the Oise valley), take Rue de l'Égalité, which climbs up to the left, then continue along Rue Pasteur at the crossroads.
(5) Note the well set into the façade of No. 8 and continue towards the centre of the village.
At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue de Bossang (you are now back on theGR®). After about 50 metres, turn right and the road climbs steadily towards the plateau. From the junction with a dirt track, the road is no longer paved (it becomes a carriageway for 200 to 300 metres), continue climbing, the path runs alongside an orchard and enters the forest after passing under some high-voltage power lines.
(6) Continue straight ahead, making sure you follow theGR® markers. The path crosses several trails and climbs to a clearing with a signpost in the centre, where you will find the RF du Ringuet.
Cross this crossroads diagonally to the left and take this paved road marked GR®. Follow it to a paved road where you turn right. After about 30 metres, cross it and take thePR® marked path on the left which descends.
When you reach the tarmac road, turn right twice to reach the edge of Lac Bleu.
If you have time before continuing the hike, take a walk around the two ponds, which is very pleasant (Lac Bleu and Petit Etang ).
(7) Follow the lake shore heading west, at the end turn left towards the car park and cross it, heading towards the signpost in the centre of the roundabout a hundred metres further on.
Cross the roundabout and continue along the RF de la Touffe, which is also marked GR®. Follow it until you reach the tarmac road of La Pierre Turquoise. Turn right at the crossroads.
About 200 metres further down, level with the car park, under the trees on the left, is the Pierre Turquoise, a Neolithic funerary megalith.
A sign provides information about this monument.
(8) Return to the Route de la Pierre Turquoise and continue the hike uphill, following this road until the first crossroads.
(9) Be careful at the crossroads, as the paved road turns left. Opposite, the dirt road is still called Route de la Pierre Turquoise. The road that crosses it is called Route de Franconville. It is paved on the left of the crossroads and dirt on the right.
(9) Turn right onto Route de Franconville (unpaved) and follow it until you reach a large masonry fence, then turn left.
Follow this wall without getting impatient, as it is very long, until you reach the Saint-Martin-du-Tertre cemetery.
Cross the car park between the buildings. As you pass, you will see the tower of Claude Chappe's former telegraph station.
(10) Cross the road and take the path that goes downhill. Be very careful as this path is rutted in places and can be very slippery in wet weather.
The path ends at an unpaved road lined with properties, the first of which is called "La Cosita". Follow this road straight ahead until it meets a paved road and continue straight ahead.
The bell tower of the church in Viarmes is now visible. Continue straight ahead to rejoin the original route next to the school and then the town hall square (S/E).
