Preparation
A 10-day itinerary should be planned in advance.
Experience has shown that it is a good idea to check the availability of accommodation, especially in popular areas and, above all, in places that do not offer alternative options.

  • Napf: very busy at weekends and not open every day.
  • Moosegg: not open every day. Alternative accommodation available in Langnau.
  • Münsingen: only one hotel.
  • Rüeggisberg: Only two B&Bs

Weather:
The climb up Mount Pilatus is only worthwhile if the weather is good.
If this is not the case, do the Lucerne to Malters stage.

  • Red and white or yellow signposting: Alpine panorama trail, vignette no. 3. Excellent signposting with numerous signs along the entire route.
  • Mountain equipment, including good hiking boots, warm clothing and sun protection.
  • There are a few fountains along the route, but the water is not always drinkable.
  • Transport: Timetable
  • Pilatus Fräkmüntegg - Pilatus cable car: CHF 16 (May 2022)

  • Please note that Switzerland is not in the EU. Mobile data is charged at prohibitive rates. It is advisable to download offline maps via Wi-Fi before each stage.
