The starting point for this stage is on Hellbuhlstrasse at the Hotel Kreuz in Malters.

(1) Just before the bridge, turn left onto Alpenpanorama Weg and follow the Petite Emme until you reach a crossroads and sign No. 3.

(2) Stay on the banks of the Kleine Emme for about 4 km. Pass under a flyover that crosses the river. You will arrive at the railway line.

(3) Cross the railway line and follow the path along the edge of the woods that cuts across the loop of the Kleine Emme, approaching the railway line until you reach a left-hand bend.

(4) At the W sign, return to the banks of the Emme and gradually arrive at the foot of the Werthenstein Cloister.

(5) At sign No. 3, begin the steep climb to the monastery.

(6) Admire the magnificent cloister, a must-see building on the Via Jacobi.
After a bend, begin the descent towards the village of Werthenstein. Pass in front of the Holy Fountain. Take the covered bridge to cross the Kleine Emme and continue to the junction with Luzernerstrasse.

(7) Cross at the traffic lights and continue straight ahead until you reach the first small road on the left.

(8) Turn left at sign No. 3 and begin a fairly steep climb through the forest. At the end of the steep climb and as you approach the first houses, you will see a bench and a sign marked W.

(9) Turn left onto the path and cross a long field until you reach the Hinder Höchweid farm.

(10) At the farm, follow the W sign and gradually enter the Wolhusen industrial area.

(11) Go straight ahead, cross a small bridge and go through the industrial area. Join Bahnhofstrasse and follow this road to the roundabout.
