A pleasant little family route, ideal for a leisurely stroll. The route takes you through farmland, past a farm and a small hamlet, and, best of all, offers a lovely walk along the River Blavet. Things to see: a lock, a lock-keeper’s house and peaceful countryside.

Description of the walk

(S/E) At the Saint-Rivalain car park, start your route by turning right and heading up towards “La Petite Pause”. Cross the railway line and take the path leading uphill on your right (where the signposting begins).

(1) Walk through the woods until you reach a farm.

(2) Continue along the farm track to the right, skirting the various fields for 1.2 km. At the junction, turn right, then right again before joining the road.

(3) Walk down the road, then cross the railway line as you reach the village of Tréblavet. You will then arrive at the lock and its lock-keeper’s house.

(4) Then join the towpath heading off to the right. Enjoy a 1.3 km stroll along the banks of the Blavet before returning to your starting point (S/E).

Worth a visit

- The Blavet
The Blavet is a Breton river that has been channelled for approximately 57 km between Pontivy and Hennebont. It flows through a lush green valley, ideal for walking, cycling, canoeing or boating. It is a peaceful spot, perfect for enjoying the countryside.

  • Tréblavet lock and lock-keeper’s house
    In Tréblavet, there is a lock and a typical old lock-keeper’s house, built of stone and slate. It is a lovely, peaceful spot on the banks of the Blavet, perfect for a break or a stroll along the canal.

This route is accessible from the stop on the tourist train, the Napoléon Express.
