Starting point: Saint-Clément Church in Frasnoy
(S/E) Take Chemin de la Fontaine, then cross Rue des Cauderliers and, through the hedgerows, head almost straight towards the Villers-Pol road.
Chemin de la Fontaine is also known as "le Cavin". This was the name given in the past to sunken paths.
(1) At Chemin de Villers-Pol, turn right, walk alongside the campsite, then turn left onto Chemin du Moulin, also known as "le chemineau".
(2) At the end of the path, walk along the RD942 on the right for 500 metres, taking care, then turn right onto Chemin Lavaloir. This path marks the boundary between the communes of Frasnoy and Villereau. There are many orchards in this area. They consist of apple, pear and cherry trees, which make up a typical bocage landscape.
(3) At the crossroads, continue straight on along the Bois d'Hourdiaux path until you reach the road near a place called La Buvette.
(4) At the end of the path, turn left towards Villers-Pol, then turn right at the next crossroads on the heights of Orsinval. Continue across the fields for about one kilometre.
(5) Turn left, leaving La Flaque on your right, then turn right at the road towards Bois de Quélipont. The woods are home to starlings and song thrushes. After walking along the edge of the woods, you will come to a sunken path.
(6) Go down to the right and you will reach the Quélipont waterfall. A mill once operated at this location.
Continue along the path and cross the bridge over the waterfall. There is a wide variety of birds in this area, thanks in particular to the proximity and interaction between the woods and the bocage. You may encounter buzzards, wood pigeons, rooks, carrion crows, great spotted woodpeckers, green woodpeckers and jays. Leave the lane lined with hornbeams on your right.
(7) At the intersection, turn left onto Chemin de l'Épinette and continue to the municipal cemetery. Along the way, note the pollarded willow plantations. Pollarded trees encourage the growth of nitrophilous species such as dioecious nettles, cleavers, black elder and bittersweet. Along the roadside, you will see common St. John's wort, agrimony and round-leaved bellflower.
(8) At the cemetery, turn left onto the Chemin des Religieuses path.
On your left, note the hedge planted with trees. In this area, you may encounter small mammals such as rabbits, dormice, and hedgehogs.
(9) Turn right onto the path that joins Rue du Moulin, which you follow to the left. Pass the Saint-Clément fountain and you will find yourself back at the church (D:A).
