Car park at l'Étang du Pont Rouge
(S/E) Cross the street and take the narrow path along the ditch. Follow the path through the ramparts, up a narrow staircase (caution) and onto Rue Victor Hugo. Turn right onto Avenue de la Gare.
At the roundabout, turn right towards Bavay (RD 942). Take the bridge over the railroad.
(2) At the intersection, turn left into Rue du 11 novembre 1918, then right into the first street. Leaving the outskirts of Le Quesnoy, go straight down to the Rhônelle at the hamlet of Lorgnies.
(3) After the fountain and the Rhônelle, turn right. Follow the course of the river. Further on, cross the RD942 and continue straight ahead, as close as possible to the water.
(4) At the Burie bridge, go straight ahead and climb to the left to pass the Église Saint-Géry in Villereau, partly enclosed in a building. Originally, this church belonged to a small abbey under the Hautmont abbey.
At the top, cross the RD 951 (be careful) and take the gravelled Chemin de l'Alouette, at the entrance to which stands the Chapelle Notre-Dame du Bon-Secours.
(5) Turn right and follow the top of the plateau overlooking the Rhônelle valley. The path passes through fields, meadows and orchards. Unfortunately, the wooded landscape is disappearing in favor of more economically profitable crops. Note the ultralight runway along the way. Return to the RD951.
(6) Turn left and, just after the bridge over an old railroad, turn right down the Chemin du Marais. Cross the bridge over the Rhônelle, then turn right onto Chemin du Château, which passes under the old railway bridge.
(7) Pass the Château de Potelle (open on Heritage Days, 3rd weekend in September).
(8) At the crossroads, go left up the hill, keeping to your left, and cross over the railroad line, following the Chemin de Potelle.
(9) At Quatre Chemins, continue straight ahead on Rue Léon Blum. At the roundabout, turn right to reach the town centre and the car park (S/E).
