This stage ofthe GRP® 571 starts in Remouchamps, passes through Sedoz and Fonds de Quarreux close to the Amblève, follows the Chefna stream to the border of the Sources Nature Park and descends into the valley to finish in Stoumont.
Amblève and Salm: two valleys of legends
From mischievous nutons in the Ardennes forests to Satan, who in a fit of rage created the Fonds de Quarreux, to macralles bewitching hikers in the woods around Vielsalm, many legends haunt the Amblève and Salm valleys.
Comblain-au-Pont - Remouchamps
This stage ofthe GRP®571starts at Pont-de-Sçay near the confluence of the Ourthe and Amblève rivers, climbs up the Amblève slope, crosses Oneux and Chambralles, rejoins the valley and crosses the river at Martinrive. The Ourthe Valley from Rivage to Hamoir
This hike will take you from Rivage station to Hamoir station via the villages of Pont-de-Sçay, Comblain-au-Pont and Comblain-Fairon. Along the way, you will pass through vast agricultural and forest areas, discover the Ourthe valley at times, and pass close to the Abîme cave and an imposing square farm, typical of the Condroz region.
Mortroux - Oupeye
The28th stage will surprise many, myself included. Due to bridge repairs, I had to head for Visé rather than take the direct route. It turned out to be a good decision, as I discovered a multitude of paths and trails, which made the journey into town take a little longer. The same was true at the end of the route.
Stoumont - Trois-Ponts
Amblève Valley
This stage ofthe GRP® 571 starts in Stoumont, passes in front of Froidcourt Castle and crosses the Amblève in Cheneux. The route then descends towards the Coo waterfall, crosses the river again and reaches Trois-Ponts via the Belvédère de Ster.
Eupen – Remersdael
This route takes you from the German-speaking region of the Eastern Cantons in Eupen to the Flemish region of the Voer in Remerdael, following a mainly rural route with plenty of paths and tracks that sometimes hold a few surprises in store. I’ll leave you to discover them for yourselves as you explore these paths that I’ve enjoyed so much.
Oupeye – Haneffe
Travelling from Oupeye, in the north of the Liège region, to Haneffe and its farmland is no easy feat, given the city’s expansion, the numerous motorways and their tangled junctions, not to mention Bierset Airport. And yes, this29th stage takes this route – or rather, these detours – to offer a journey mainly through the countryside along small country roads. A magical ride not to be missed.
La Fagne des Deux Séries
A very beautiful walk through a nature reserve, suitable for all seasons.
Remersdael – Mortroux
A short walk for this27th stage, but one packed with beautiful sights: buildings, panoramic views and landscapes. A stage where you really get a feel for what a steep climb or descent is like. They aren’t long, but your quadriceps will certainly feel the strain. It’s also a stage that gives pride of place to country lanes and footpaths.
