Cambes walks

The official name of the walk is: "Cambes-St Caprais-Baurech- Circular 6 - Cdc les Portes de l'Entre Deux Mers". A circular route that surprises with its diversity of landscapes, the villages it passes through and the Garonne, which you leave and then return to after a stretch through this magical combination of sunken paths and tree canopy, with veritable tunnels of greenery. This route forms part of the Circuit des Onze Clochers (Circuit of the Eleven Steeples) organised by the Portes de l’Entre-deux-Mers Community of Communes.

Stone quarried from the local quarries shapes our landscape. It forms the foundation of the castles, as well as the old houses that cluster together to form hamlets, bearing witness to the way of life in these localities. Vines, clay soil and stone form the bedrock of our relationship with this land and mark our impact on these transformations. Circular No. 5 of the Portes de l’Entre-Mers Community of Communes.

The various vistas offered by the region’s sweeping panoramas provide a glimpse into why these lands have been chosen as holiday destinations throughout history. The beautiful mansions, castles and wine-growing activity leave their mark on the landscape. Between these estates, stretches of woodland run through the villages, allowing wildlife to roam freely – wildlife we hope to encounter along the way. A peaceful ride through the green countryside of the Gironde, with very few vineyards for a change, but woods, hay meadows and green pastures, as well as streams, marshes and esteys, thanks to its proximity to the Garonne. Please note: a large part of the walk is on roads, so caution is advised

Our rolling countryside offers panoramic views where the interplay between our valleys and villages comes to life. The spires of the churches, the façades of the beautiful mansions and the remarkable trees in the castle grounds face one another, telling the story of how people have settled on these lands. The official name of the walk is: Tabanac-le Tourne - Circular 7 - cdc-Portes de l’Entre-deux-Mers The walk alternates between landscapes in the heart of the vineyards, stretches through wooded areas and the discovery of marshes. This circular walk will immerse you in a vibrant countryside, where, round every bend, you’ll be surprised by the sight of a quarry, a remarkable tree or a wash house.

The official name of the walk is: "Le Tourne-Langoiran - Circular 8 - Cdc Portes de l'Entre-deux-Mers" A 9 km route between the river and the hillsides, offering magnificent views of the colourful marshes that encircle the Garonne as you walk through the ever-present vineyards. You could easily lose yourself in the narrow streets of these two bustling villages where water always finds its way. We follow its course, imagining another story; that of villages where life revolved entirely around the river, its trade and the fishing boats.

This circular route allows you to discover the Garonne up close from its banks, but also from the vineyard slopes that border its floodplain. The route is not particularly difficult but has a slight incline. will take you to the banks of the Garonne and one of its small tributaries (the Grand Estey). After following a pretty, slightly sloping path, you will reach the hillsides and cool little valleys of the Entre-Deux-Mers region, with its vineyards, towering oak woods and grazing meadows. From there, you will enjoy several views of the river and its alluvial plain.

A lovely circular route that starts on the banks of the Garonne with its traditional fishing huts, then follows the Estey stream before crossing vineyards and reaching magnificent viewpoints before arriving at the medieval castle of Haut-Langoiran.

A short, flat walk with the option to turn back at any time, allowing you to explore the village of Langoiran.

The route passes through the plateau and its castles and returns via the old railway line.

Along the way, you’ll find everything that defines the Portes de l’Entre-deux-Mers: the wooded hillsides and their topography that put our muscles to the test, the water acting as a backbone with the Pimpine and its surprising wetlands, and the sunken paths winding their way, hidden in the border between two vineyard plots. This walk through the vineyards is notable for its many wine châteaux, an ancient church with a pure Romanesque choir, and its significant production of lily of the valley. You will pass the Latour Martillac, Haut Nouchet and Cruzeau Martillac châteaux, located on the outskirts of the Bordeaux metropolitan area. Martillac, an Aquitaine village in southern Gironde, belongs to the Pessac Leognan wine region, giving its wines a prestigious appellation.

Circular route through the vineyards and forest south of La Brède. You will pass through the vineyards of Château La Blancherie, Château Magneau, Château Méric, Château Lassalle and Château Haut-Reys. La Brède, a Graves vineyard on the edge of the Pessac-Léognan region, is a village renowned for its good living amidst woods and vineyards.

The official name of the circular route is: Lignan-de-Bordeaux–Cénac – Circular Route 2 – Portes de l’Entre-deux-Mers Community of Communes. Crossing paths with walkers and cyclists along the Lapébie trail, this circular route offers a glimpse into another era, when the railway crossed the Entre-deux-Mers region from Orléans station in Bordeaux to Sauveterre-de-Guyenne.Further reminders of the past are the quarries, which today provide a home for bats and blend seamlessly with the wooded hillsides, creating places with a unique atmosphere. Having become a source of risk, they, like the waters of the Pimpine, exemplify our changing relationship with the land. This circular route forms part of the ‘11 Bell Towers’ route organised by the Portes de l’Entre-deux-Mers Community of Communes.

Bouliac has a rich heritage. Numerous noble houses and châteaux dot the commune, bearing witness to a rich past and a time when Bordeaux merchants made their fortunes thanks to the commercial activity of the Port de la Lune and sought to acquire beautiful residences on the hillsides just a few kilometres from the big city. Note: route and description created from the Saint-Morillon Town Hall guidebook: Boucle des Anciennes Landes. 95% of the route follows paths through the woods and is very pleasant. It allows walkers to climb about 40 metres and cross a variety of landscapes. At the highest points, they will find themselves in what was once an area of moorland maintained for sheep. At the lowest points, they will feel the coolness of the Gât-Mort valley and the originality of its habitats. Experienced walkers will notice and appreciate the environmental changes along the way, both on the way up and on the way down, before returning to their starting point: the church square in the centre of the village of Saint-Morillon. At the end of the hike, you will walk along the Gât Mort stream, passing the ruins of the Lusié mill before returning to Saint-Morillon. The old mill was once part of a noble house purchased in 1754 by Montesquieu.

Very flat route: Lapébie cycle path, vineyards, woodland...

This 7.7 km circular route starts in the current village of Fargues-Saint-Hilaire, at the Sunday market square, and takes you on a tour of beautiful shaded paths. Part of the route passes through Carignan-de-Bordeaux, where you will discover an unusual place. .

We offer you a lovely walk through the undergrowth and vineyards. You will pass by a pond, wine estates and the outskirts of Tresses, Pompignac and Fargues Saint-Hilaire.

A rural route through woods, meadows, a few vineyards and quiet country roads.

This route starts in Podensac and takes you along the Garonne and its traditional fishing huts, through some wooded areas and across vineyards. The start of the walk is near the municipal estate of Chavat, built in the early 20th century by an industrialist. It features copies of ancient statues and has been designated a ‘remarkable garden’. The water tower that supplied the estate was the first building constructed in France by Le Corbusier.

This is a circular route of about 2 hours that avoids traffic as much as possible and tries to connect the various green spaces in this popular area surrounding the Saint-Jean train station and extending slightly into the commune of Bègles. There are many small squares and green spaces that are open all the time and are more or less well maintained. The route is accessible by bicycle if you take care.

A circular starting from Croignon, with five châteaux on the itinerary: Rivalan, Camarsac (Prince Noir), Grand Puch, Petit Puch and Jonquières. An itinerary that allows you to discover the rich heritage and rolling landscapes of the Entre-deux-Mers region, along small roads and paths through woods and vineyards.
