Route des lavoirs de Champniers
There are eight beautiful wash houses and fountains to discover along this largely shaded route, as well as stunning panoramic views from the tops of the ‘puys’. Set amongst farmland and natural areas, a mosaic of colours that change with the seasons stretches as far as the eye can see.

Route ‘Au fil de la Touvre’
Head up the Chemin de la Messe, which links the market town to the village of Les Riffauds, then stroll gently back down towards the Touvre, taking in the beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Ruelle-sur-Touvre / Champniers / Argence circular
This route offers beautiful views of the town of Angoulême and the surrounding countryside, passing through the heights of Champniers and the village of Argence. With numerous paths and wooded crossings, this route follows part of the GR® long-distance footpath between Angoumois and Périgord.
From Touvre to Braconne
From the top of the hills, you will see the village of Touvre, its valley and the Church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine. The start and finish are at the source of the Touvre, the second largest resurgence in France. The route will take you through the Braconne forest and end on theGR®4.
The resurgences and the source of the Touvre
This very short hike allows you to discover the extent of the pools that form the sources of the Touvre, fed by several resurgences. This walk also takes you to the Lèche wash house, where one of the resurgences can be seen near an old Roman bridge.
Trotte-Renard route
From the top of the surrounding hills, you can see the village of Touvre and the Church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, at the foot of which the Touvre springs forth, the second largest resurgence in France.
Tour de Garat
Starting from Touvre, this route offers some wonderful heritage discoveries, such as the Bragette Hermitage, the castles of Dirac and La Tranchade, and numerous wash houses set in unspoilt natural surroundings.
Tribute to the crash of the B17-G Channel Express III
This circuit will take you through wooded and open areas, along dirt and stone paths, and along an old Roman road. Near this road, on 19 June 1944, an American Boeing B17-G bomber crashed at a place called Fond Péron. To commemorate this event, a memorial stone has been erected at the edge of the Roman road. From this stone, signs point to the actual crash site, about 500 metres away to the north, where a small memorial, restored in 2024, awaits your visit in complete tranquillity.

The Petite Prairie route starting from the lake
Situated in a protected area, this is a more secluded and unspoilt part of the Coulée Verte, running alongside the branches of the Charente, which will take you to the charming village of Saint-Yriex Vénat and its chapel. As you climb up through the Bois des Rouyers, you will discover the Fontaine des Pots, where hemp was once retted.
