Starting point at Les Prés de l’Or (car park opposite the school).
(S/E) From the car park, take Rue des Tourterelles, which climbs alongside the leisure centre and the school. On leaving the village of La Pouyade, turn right onto the path that climbs through the woods to Puy de Nelle, which rises to 142 m. Beautiful trees make up this woodland and line the path. Ignore all the other paths and carry on straight ahead.
(1) At the edge of the woodland, with a view of Brie Champniers aerodrome, follow the road 200 m to the right and turn right onto the shaded path that leads to the multi-sports complex. Follow the road 80 m to the left, then cross over to go through the car park barriers and join the path to the left of the sports hall. At the end of this path, follow Rue des Chevaliers Guignettes to the left for about 100 m.
(2) Take the small path on the right between two houses, which leads uphill towards the Centre Paul Dambier. Leave the woodland and cross the boules court on the left. Head towards the car park and go down the stairs on the far right.
(3) Walk 50 m down Rue des Bouvreuils and take Chemin des Hirondelles opposite. At the top of Puy Robert, follow the stony path to the right – the view opens out widely over the Périgord and Angoumois regions. At the end, turn left.
(4) Turn left again just before the house. This shaded path leads you to the Chez Nauve fountain. Follow the road and head up to the left after the washhouse. Continue straight ahead along Rue des Potagers and carry on straight along the white path for 300 m.
(5) Leave this track before the survey point by heading up to the left. Turn right immediately to reach the Feuillade washhouse. After the washhouse, continue along the path through the woodland, which then climbs towards Feuillade. Pass the farmhouse on your left and head towards Chez Labbé.
(6) Turn right in front of the houses, reaching Rue du Contrevent and then Rue de l’Arbalétrier, heading towards Lansac on the right. Walk down into the village, turn left and follow the path leading down to the Lansac washhouse. Continue through the woodland, ignoring the paths branching off to the right and then to the left, and head up the Chemin de la Noue, which leads onto a minor road. Follow this carefully for 100 m to the right, keeping to the wider right-hand verge.
(7) Carefully cross the road to take the path on the left leading to the Ferrière washhouse. Head back up towards the village, turn right and continue through the woods, heading west and then south.
(8) You’ll come out onto a wide path known as the ‘Chemin des Plaqueminiers’, which you follow to the right. After about 100 m, turn right to visit the Fontaine des Rossignols, also known as the Fontaine de Maran, 200 m away.
(9) Retrace your steps, cross the Chemin des Plaqueminiers and take the path opposite. Turn right onto Rue des Chênes, continue along Rue des Cognassiers and cross the gardens. Carry on along Rue des Néfliers, then turn right onto Rue des Figuiers.
(10) Immediately follow Rue des Érables to the left to take a detour through the village and see the beautiful Fontanson washhouse. Turn left on your return from the washhouse to get back onto Rue des Figuiers. At the next junction, take a look at the Poitevins washhouse before turning left onto Rue des Saules. Further on, rejoin Rue des Figuiers and follow it to the left.
(11) At the end, turn right onto the RD 105, which you should cross carefully after 80 metres to join Rue des Éperviers. At the junction, continue straight ahead along Rue des Colbert and discover the old Petit Mairat railway station depicted in the mural before returning to the starting point (S/E).
