Around the Roho Mill and the Saint-Dolay marshes

Saint-Dolay features the typical landscapes of the region, though with a notable abundance of water and mills.
This runoff and surface water has created marshes and ponds around the Moulin de Roho.
This circular route is part ofthe PR®® known as the Boucle du Marais de Roho.

Description of the walk

Park in front of the buildings near the Moulin de Roho.
TheGR®® andPR®® markings alternate along the route and diverge for a short stretch in the Combe.

Red and white markings –GR®®349

(S/E) With your back to the buildings, head right towards the mill. Pass the entrance to the estate, then cross the bridge (red and white markings on the right-hand parapet) and continue for about 150 m. Take the path that leads up to the left. Halfway up, there is a view of the mill and its pond. The path levels out in the pine forest and crosses a path running perpendicular to it. Turn left and you will reach a road.

(1) Cross the road and continue straight ahead. The path, less rugged, crosses fields and joins a path running at right angles. Turn left, head down towards the Ruisseau du Moulin de Sainte-Anne and a three-way junction.

Yellow markings

(2) Leave theGR®® by continuing straight ahead, then cross the stream. Follow the road southwards, then pass the Cravignan menhir cross and reach a path branching off to the right. Take this path, follow the edge of the woods and descend gently to the Route de Bois Riveau.

(3) Turn left and walk carefully along the roadside verge. Pass a massive stone cross at the triangular junction. Continue for about a hundred metres until you reach the track on the left, situated in front of the three-way junction marked by a grassy area.
Turn onto this wide dirt track, pass the sewage treatment plant and cross a track running perpendicular to it.

Unmarked
(4) Turn left, then at the next junction, turn right to rejoin the yellow-marked path.

Yellow markings

(5) Head diagonally left, cross a stone ford and turn left, following the stream. Follow the markings keeping to the left, arriving at the edge of the woods.

(6) Walk along the edge of the woodland and, on the opposite diagonal of the clearing, enter the trees. The path turns first right then left before heading north. You will come across an inverted three-way junction.

(7) Turn left and, in front of the mill access tracks, stay on the path which leads onto a farm track.

(8) Turn left. After two bends, the wide track runs parallel to the D176, past a wrought-iron cross. Follow the track to the road, marked in red, white and yellow. Turn left to return to the buildings near the mill (S/E).

Please note that the Corodais forest area is being logged and is therefore closed to the public (both mountain bikers and hikers). The reopening date (hike completed on 8 November 2025) has not been specified. You will therefore need to go around the area, which means allowing for a longer journey time and distance.
Otherwise, it's a nice route.

There is a wet, slippery section shortly after the start of the route (before the viewpoint). Otherwise, it’s a lovely walk, nothing to report.

After Storm Ciaran, a few trees were blocking the path, and following the heavy rain of recent weeks, we had to turn back as the descent proved too dangerous. So, it’s a lovely route, very pleasant, well signposted, with some beautiful views, but best done when the ground is dry.
