(S) From the Salanfe hostel, head south, cross the dam and follow the lake to the first fork.
(1) Turn left and follow signs for La Golettaz and Col de la Golette. The trail climbs eastwards and, after two bends, you will come to another junction. Take the right-hand path; the left-hand path also leads to La Golette. Head south-east and begin the long climb to the pass. Once you reach the pass, enjoy the panoramic view of the 4,000-metre peaks on the Italian border.
(2) Begin the descent with caution on the steep hairpin bends at the start. The first bends are equipped with chains. The slope gradually becomes gentler on the scree, until you reach the junction with a track, close to the arrival point of a ski lift.
(3) Continue along the track for about 350 metres, pass a turn-off on the left and continue to a wide bend, where the track turns north-east.
(4) In the bend, take the path on the right that joins the Chemin de la Creusaz.
(5) Turn right onto the track and pass under the Vélard chairlift. After a hairpin bend to the left, return to the hamlet of La Creusaz, passing the Creusaz restaurant and the upper station of the Marécottes intermediate resort.
(6) At the cable car station, follow the signs for Les Marécottes heading north. Pass under the Le Vélard chairlift again and continue to its lower station. Continue downhill to reach the Creusaz road.
(7) Turn right onto this road and after about 200 metres, leave it and take a path on the left that descends directly to the village of Les Marécottes, crossing the road twice.
(8) At the small car park formed by the corner of Rue Principale and Chemin des Messieurs, 25 metres south, you will reach Chemin de la Lénaire. Pass a chapel. You will find a small car park on the right.
(9) Return to the CFF/SBB station via Avenue de la Gare. (E)
