Description of the walk

(S) From the Auberge de Salanfe, descend towards the lake. Follow the dam and then walk along the lake until you reach the first fork.

(1) Leave the lakeside path and follow the path heading west-southwest towards the Col d'Emaney. Then head south.

(2) Leave the path to the Col de la Golettaz and Lac des Ottans on your left. Keep heading south and climb up the scree to the Col d'Emaney.

(3) At the pass, begin the descent westwards to reach the junction with the hamlet of Emaney.

(4) On the left, head towards the hamlet of Emaney. Continue to the few buildings of the Alpage d'Emaney.

(5) Pass the Buvette de l'Alpage d'Emaney. Turn right and head south to begin the ascent of the Col de Fenestral. You will arrive at a rocky plateau where Lac Blantsin is nestled.

(6) Continue climbing, passing under the Dent d'Emaney, then under the Dent de Fenestral to reach the Col de Fenestral.

(7) Begin the descent on a good grassy path with a few rocky sections. Reach the Fenestral mountain pasture.

(8) Continue south on the trail that climbs slightly and turns west to reach an intersection.

(9) Leave the trail that leads to the Finhaut road on your left. Stay on the right and keep heading northwest, then west. Gain a little altitude to gradually reach the road that leads to the Emosson dam. You will come out on this road, right at the tunnel you took the day before.
