Departure from the swimming pool car park.
(S/E) Exit the car park and turn left onto Rue de la Piscine. At the bus stop at the foot of a water tower, take a path on the left and enter the Val de Scarpe gardens. Continue straight ahead until you reach the river. Follow it to the right and pass under a road bridge.
(1) Shortly afterwards, turn left and take a footbridge over the Scarpe. On the other side, turn left and follow the river on your left. Pass under the road bridge again. Walk along the river for a long time and pass under a second road bridge. Then follow the Darse Méaulens.
(2) You will come out onto Rue Marietta Martin. Follow it to the left and immediately turn right onto Rue de Turenne. At the traffic lights, continue straight ahead on the same street. At the end, turn right and you will immediately come to a crossroads (traffic lights).
(3) Turn left onto Rue d'Amiens. Turn right along this street and take the first right, Rue des Chamoines. At the end, turn left, then right to arrive at the side of Saint-Nicolas Church.
(4) Pass between Place Jean Moulin (on your left) and the church (on your right). Then turn right and left to reach Rue Baudimont. Follow this street to the left and continue straight ahead until you reach a crossroads. Then turn left onto Boulevard Besnier and continue for approximately 250 metres.
(5) At the corner of the Foyer de l'Enfance, turn left onto a path. At the fork that appears shortly after, turn left. Then turn right along the path and left at the foot of the Roeux bastion. At a fork, turn left and join Rue des Carabiniers d'Artois.
(6) Follow this street as it continues (leaving Rue de la Paix on your left). At the end, rejoin Rue d'Amiens and follow it to the right. At the traffic lights, cross Boulevard Newcastle and follow it to the left on the right-hand pavement. Cross Rue Georges Santerne on the left, then turn right to follow the military cemetery. At the end, turn left to rejoin the boulevard and follow it to the right.
(7) At the traffic lights, continue straight ahead.
(8) At the next traffic lights, turn right to enter the citadel through the royal gate. Go around the arsenal on the right, then leave the Dauphine gate on your right. Then turn left towards the memorial to those who were shot.
(9) Pass the memorial to those who were shot and continue to the end of the road. Then turn around.
(9) Return to the entrance of the citadel by following the same route you took on the way there.
(8) Cross Boulevard du Général de Gaulle at the pedestrian crossing and take Avenue des Fusillés, which branches off to the left. Ignore a path on the right and turn right with the avenue. Then take the first path on the right. Go straight ahead at two successive crossroads.
(10) At the T-junction, turn left. Take the third road on the left. At the end, turn right. At the traffic lights, cross Boulevard Crespel and continue straight ahead until you reach Place Victor Hugo.
(11) Cross the square, pass the obelisk and continue along Rue Rohart Courtin. Cross Rue Aristide Briand and continue along Rue Saint-Étienne. Cross Rue Sainte-Agnès on the left, then turn right onto Rue des Trois Bonnettes. At the end, turn left and then right onto Rue du Collège. Take the first left, Rue du Petit Chaudron.
(12) Cross Rue Saint-Auber on the left, cross Place du Théâtre and take the first left, Rue de la Gouvernance. Turn right onto this street. At the end, turn left and right and enter the Jardin de la Légion d'Honneur. At the fork that appears immediately, turn right. Continue straight ahead. Then follow Rue des Teinturiers to the right. At the end, turn left and then right onto Rue du Moulinet. Take the second right and cross Rue des Galletoires. Continue straight ahead on Rue de Jérusalem to reach the Chapelle des Chariottes.
(13) Turn left onto Rue des Chariottes. At the end, turn right onto Rue du Mont de Piété. At the end, turn left and continue until you reach Place Guy Mollet.
(14) Turn right onto Rue aux Ours. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the dead ends and side streets on your left. At the entrance to a right-hand bend, turn left into a side street towards the town hall. Cross Place des Héros diagonally to the left. On the other side, take Rue de la Housse. At the foot of the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste, turn left and cross Place d'Ipswich. Continue along Rue du Cardinal. After No. 7, turn left into a lane.
(15) You will come out onto Rue de la Taillerie; follow it to the right. Cross Grand Place. At the end, turn left onto Rue Sainte-Croix. Continue straight ahead until you reach Place Guy Mollet, which you passed earlier.
(14) Turn right onto Rue du Hocquet d'Or. Cross Rue des Augustines and continue straight ahead onto Rue Guinegatte. Cross Rue des Trois Filloires and continue along Rue de la Fourche.
(16) At the fork, turn right onto Rue aux Foulons. Cross Rue du Crinchon and continue straight ahead. Take the first right and cross the car park. At the end, turn left and then right, then take the first right. Continue across the car park. At the end, turn left and cross the boulevard at the traffic lights. On the other side, walk a few dozen metres towards the water tower. Turn left and immediately join the car park (S/E).
