A short family hike in the heart of the hillsides, allowing you to enjoy the geometry of the vineyards with the Pyrenees mountain range in the background.

Montagne du Rey, whose highest point is Soum de las Picarras (1,349 m), is the first peak in the Ossau valley and offers a superb 360° panoramic view from the Pau plain to the Pic du Midi d'Ossau.

Pic d'Escurets is a small peak that can be easily reached in about 1½ hours. At the summit, a magnificent 360° view awaits you.

A short walk, 1 hour 15 minutes including breaks and photo stops, ideal for families, with a lovely spot for a picnic near the Croix de Peyrecor.

A beautiful route on the hillsides of Rontignon, a few kilometres from Pau. Several beautiful views of the ridges and the Pyrenees.

A lovely walk in the low mountains of Béarn, with beautiful views at the highest point, which is at the foot of the Crête de Saubajot. The descent through the beech and fir forest isn’t easy if it has rained recently. And as is always the case in Le Bénou, outside the winter months, there are plenty of herds (cows, sheep, horses).

A lovely walk to the Col de Lurdé (1,948 m) and then its peak (2,089 m) from the Pont de Goua. You’ll gain altitude from the Cézy plateau to get a better view of all the surrounding peaks. Magnificent views of the Pic du Midi d’Ossau and the Balaïtous, to name but two. From the pass, the climb to the Pic de Lurdé takes 15–20 minutes and is straightforward.

A classic family walk. A stunning view from the summit, from where, in good weather, you can see the Vignemale, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, the Ardiden, etc. There are also lovely views towards Lourdes, Tarbes and Pau all along the ascent. The first section is through a well-shaded forest, whilst the second is more exposed. Bring a cap and water in summer. It is a shame, however, that the summit has been left to fall into disrepair, as the promontory is no longer accessible, nor is its orientation table.

A short hike to the summits of two very close peaks. Superb views and a 360° panorama, particularly towards theCirque d’Anéou, the Pic du Midi d’Ossau and the Lurien Massif. You’re likely to spot marmots and chamois along the way.Please note that whilst these peaks are in France, the majority of the route takes place in Spain and along the border ridge. The GPX track may prove useful.

Magnificent views of the French (Pic de Peyrelue, Soques, Balaïtous) and Spanish (Foratata, Sabocos, Pala de IP...) peaks of the Pyrenees on this moderately difficult loop trail, which goes around the El Forato massif, a group of several peaks very close to each other. Difficult if, like me, you choose to climb the peak from the landmark. Walking sticks are highly recommended for the descent. Lots of marmots along the route.

Near Agüimes,discover abeautifulnatural gorge and canyon with red volcanic rock formations.There is no shade on the route. Bring plenty of water.As the gorge is close to a road (GC-550), you are likely to find many people at this site.

La Montagne Verte is a plateau at a moderate altitude (1,200 m) but offers superb views of Eaux-Bonnes and the peaks of the Ossau Valley. The route starts in the village of Aas, known for its whistling shepherds. You can extend the walk to Mont Larive, adding an extra hour for the return journey.
