Notes

The car park at the start of the hike is paid (take a ticket at the barrier) and is often full before you reach the hotel. It is best to continue and park in the car park below the hotel. The payment box is located on the side of the "toilets" building where the post bus parks.

For overnight accommodation, visit the Dammahütte website to book a bed and, if desired, evening meals and breakfast, and check the opening dates (usually from July to the end of September).

As with all high mountain hikes in Switzerland, the route is very well marked with red and white signs.
This circuit is for experienced hikers. Check the weather forecast beforehand as conditions are changeable above the lake (fog rises quickly in the evening, but it is often very sunny in the morning).

Worth a visit

Additional loops can be made to the Kehlenalphütte and Bergseehütte huts, but you will need to allow at least one extra day and check with the hut wardens for the (very difficult) routes to follow.

Always be cautious and plan ahead when you're outdoors. Visorando and the author of this route cannot be held responsible for any accidents occurring on this route.

Lovely hike in glorious weather, but we did the tour in reverse: 1st day: ascent and overnight stay at the Dammahütte via the panoramic trail. Places are currently limited to 14 people and you absolutely must book in advance. The tour of the lake is very busy.
