Coming from Yenne, opposite the wine cellar, turn right onto the road that climbs towards Jongieux. Head for the church. You can easily park right next to it.
(S/E) Head north towards Aimavigne. Follow theGR® trail, passing in front of Château la Mar.
(1) Immediately afterwards, take the road that climbs to the right. Follow it to the last house. The road then turns into a path that winds through the vineyards. You will soon come to a crossroads.
(2) Continue straight ahead. When you reach the road, turn right towards Vraisin. Turn right onto Chemin du Lavoir and continue to the fountain.
(3) Just before the fountain, turn left and join the road that leads to Jongieux. Then turn right, then immediately left and go up the path at the edge of the forest.
You are now on a climb of almost 400 metres to the village of Ontex.
After a slightly steep section, you will reach a flatter section. Continue to the junction with the path coming from Jongieux le Haut.
(4) Continue straight on towards Ontex until you reach Saut de l'Âne.
(5) Turn left onto the road. After 50 metres, take the path that climbs to the right. You will soon rejoin the road. Continue on the right to the village and climb up to the church.
(6) At the foot of the church, there is a small bench where you can stop for a snack and enjoy a beautiful view of the Grand Colombier.
Then retrace your steps to the village exit and, at the small car park, climb up to the left towards the mountain. You will soon come to a cross. From here, there is another beautiful view. Follow the path that climbs into the forest and continue towards La Cauche.
(7) At the fork, turn right and head up towards the viewpoint.
(8) From here, you can enjoy views of both the Rhône and the Bugey massif, as well as Les Bauges, Belledone and Lac du Bourget on the other side.
Then retrace your steps to the previous fork.
(7) Turn right and descend to La Croisée.
(9) Turn right towards Mont and Turrioz. After about 350 metres, you will come to another crossroads.
(10) Continue straight ahead, still heading towards Mont. Walk for about 300 metres.
(11) At a left-hand bend, take the path that climbs to the right. From here, there are no more markings. Continue along this path, which goes around Turrioz. Soon, the path descends, turns and heads north-west, then north. Continue to Saut de l'Âne.
(5) Descend to the left towards Jongieux.
(4) At the crossroads, turn left towards Jongieux le Haut. When you leave the forest, you will arrive at the vineyards of Jongieux.
(12) Ignore the road that descends to the right and continue straight ahead. At the next crossroads, turn right and after 80 metres, cross the D210. Turn right for 30 metres, then take the first street on the left. Continue along the lane on the right that descends into the vineyards. Continue straight ahead, crossing the main road several times, until you reach the car park (S/E).
