The car park at the exit of Jausiers is located on the La Condamine-Chatelard road (D900), Col de Vars, Col de Larche. After the Arnaud garage, turn left just before a large building and park your vehicle.
S/E: Head towards Ubaye, cross the Pont des Chèvres bridge and turn left towards Pas de Grégoire, La Pisterne.
(1) La Pisterne. Take the path on the left towards La Pisterne. There is a signpost and yellow markings. Follow the marked path to the Cuguret fort trail.
(2) Cuguret trail. When you reach the Cuguret trail, turn right towards the military road indicated by a sign. Follow the trail up to an old kilometre marker.
(3) Mile marker. At the mile marker, leave the track by turning right onto the military road. Then begin the descent.
(4) Intersection. At the first intersection, leave the path marked in yellow.
Take the path on the left and follow it to the track. Cross the track; the path continues opposite. After crossing some old fields, the path runs alongside cliffs and overlooks the Abriès torrent.
Caution: there are some exposed sections, so take care.
(5) Signpost. When you reach the signpost marked "Pont des Mâts", turn right.
Caution: a cross bars the inscription "Pont des Mâts". We took the path anyway. It is not very well maintained but perfectly passable.
When you reach a house, take the path on the left and follow it to the bridge.
(6) Pont des Mâts. At the bridge, turn right and walk along the road to the next bridge. Take care.
(7) Pont Ubaye. Cross the bridge over the Ubaye and immediately turn right onto the path that runs alongside the stream and leads back to the starting point (S/E).
