Description of the walk

Car park located on Rue Saint-Gilles near the Jacques Mauré secondary school.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, set off along Rue Saint-Gilles and turn right onto Rue des Sports. Walk past the town hall, cross Rue de l’Église and arrive at Rue des Écoles.

(1) Turn left onto this street, then continue along Rue de la Barthe, following it to the end.

(2) Carry on straight ahead along Chemin de Naucou through the fields to reach the Ruisseau de Fongauzy.

(3) Turn right onto the Chemin de Renery to climb the hillside: this section may be muddy depending on the weather over the last few days. Reach the top.

(4) Viewpoint overlooking Castelginest, Toulouse and the Pyrenees, weather permitting. Return via the same route to the junction with Rue des Écoles.

(1) Continue straight on, go round a roundabout and you’ll reach Rue du Pont Vieil. Turn right onto Promenade de Saint-Gilles, which leads to the car park (S/E).

Part of the walk, which is rather uninteresting, takes you through the town’s streets before heading out into the countryside. The climb up to the viewpoint is pleasant enough, and the view is lovely. Between the viewpoint and the crossroads (point 4), the route is once again rather uninteresting. It’s a short walk that gives you a chance to get some fresh air not far from Toulouse, and you really can’t get lost.
