Car park at the entrance to Artiguillon
(S/E) Head towards the village of Artiguillon and turn right onto Rue du Moulin Rompu for 200 metres.
(1) Continue straight ahead into the forest (marked path). Walk for 1.2 km through the forest and vineyards until you reach Route de la Fontaine Bardin.
(2) Turn left and follow the road for 700 metres.
(3) Turn right onto the D204 for 100 metres, then take the Chemin du Moulin du Gouat on the left. You will pass an old mill (Moulin de Gouat) which has recently had its roof restored. After 400 metres, turn towards the centre of Gouat.
(4) Turn left towards the railway line, which you will cross. Follow the Gouat road until it intersects with the Peyres road.
(5) Turn right, then after 150 metres turn right again towards Moulin de Batan. Continue along this road, which will turn left to return to the Peyres road.
::6: Follow it on the right for about 600 metres.
(7) Turn right again and follow the Site road for 600 metres. A sign points you to the right towards the Brion archaeological site via a gravel path. Walk for 1 kilometre and you will come to a mound with archaeological remains.
(8) Cross the site, following the information signs. After passing the foundations of the ancient temple, look at the remains of a beautiful arched structure (below) and the slabs of the ancient Roman road.
(9) At the exit of the site, turn left onto the Brion road for 400 metres, then turn left.
(10) Follow the path towards Boyentran (signposted). After 1 km towards the centre of Boyentran, take the road to Boyentran on your left, then the first right (route de Barbehere).
(11) Follow this road for 1.4 km.
(12) Turn left onto a path towards Saint-Germain-d'Esteuil, pass under a power line and continue straight on through Saint-Germain-d'Esteuil.
(13) Turn right onto Route de Barbanne, which passes in front of the cemetery. Continue straight ahead, following Route de Livran for 2 km.
(14) At the end, cross the railway line, follow the Pauillac road (D204) for 300 metres and turn right for 400 metres to the car park (S/E).
