Schluchtensteig supplement Stage 3 – Up to the Riesenbühlturm

From Lenzkirch (end of stage 3), take bus 7257 towards Schluchsee and get off at the Hotel 4 Jahreszeiten stop. To start stage 4, take bus 7257 towards Titisee to Fischbach, Hotel Hirschen (travel time 5 minutes from Schluchsee town hall).

(S/E) Follow Fischbacher Straße downhill for a few metres and then turn left into Am Riesenbühl.

(1) Turn left at the signpost and follow the path. At the next fork, keep left again and you will eventually reach the forest path. Follow this path to the left, keeping right at the forks. Walk around the mountain in a long right-hand bend and you will reach another fork at the edge of the forest.

(2) Leave the forest road and follow the narrow path uphill to the left. This leads you up steep switchbacks on a stony path to the Riesenbühlturm tower.

(3) After climbing the tower, we first return along the same path until we reach the fork (2) again. Now we take the forest path to the left, slightly uphill for a few metres, then downhill in a long right-hand bend and pass a Kneipp facility.

(4) We continue straight ahead downhill until we reach a somewhat confusing intersection. We cross the Am Riesenbühl road and follow the path on the left across the meadow. The Hetzelweiher pond is on our right. We continue straight ahead to Dresselbacher Straße, which we follow to the right for a few metres. Then turn right into Sonnhalde and take the first path on the right again, along the upper edge of the meadow. At the end of the Parkhotel Flora property, turn left at an acute angle, past the hotel's outdoor pool.

(5) You will reach Auf der Wacht street, pass the Hotel Sternen on your right and finally reach the Schluchsee Tourist Information Office on Fischbacher Straße (E).

(3) Riesenbühlturm
At the foot of the tower there are benches, tables and deck chairs. There is a good view from the tower
